"purchased this pump 7 years ago. and put it on my 5.5 hp engine (which i also purchased at northern tools) for my log splitter that i use from 5 to 6 days a week for my firewood business. there have been no issues. continues to produce top pressure and has no leaks. this is a totally trouble free product."

"I had bought a log splitter someone was building as a project. It came with a 10hp Tecumseh, but a 6 GPM pump which was way too slow for a 5” ram. I then upgraded to this 16 GPM pump, and it’s the difference of night and day. I would highly recommend this pump to anyone upgrading or building a log splitter. It’s an excellent pump with exceptional cycle time and loads of POWER!! I put a 4-way splitting wedge on it and it handles it like a champ. I have been using this splitter for 6 months now and have a mountain of split wood and no problems, equally attributed to a quality part!!!"

"I built a splitter about 3 years ago. It is powered by a 10 horse diesel and this pump has been trouble free. It has been run at 3000 psi all its life and so far so good."

"I highly recommend this pump to anyone upgrading or building a log splitter. Very smooth operation. Well made -all ports threaded and sealed to keep dirt out. Have been using it for about a month now splitting green wood that was logged last year. Barely even strains !! Coupled with a Honda 8HP engine makes for a very strong hydraulic power plant."

"I have been using this pump under extreem conditions its pushing a 4 way wedge on a 4"x24"x2" cylinder splitting the knotty wood, its very fast cycle time and its 2 stage operation is flawless . I can say it saves time and gas by decreasing the cycle time and 14hp runs it just fine"

"I ve been cutting wood to heat my house for years . When my log splitter took a dump on me I decided to up grade i spent about 400.00 dollars on a motor and a new pump this pump works well. It is fast for my 20 ton splitter I have it hooked up to a honda type motor a 6.5 ohv spinning about 3200-3600 rpm . I have no vibration on a skill level as far as hooking it up it is about a 1or 2 it took 10 min start to finish . lots of power . i wish i did this sooner it is about twice as fast . I split some oak as well . with my 8 year old son running the pump a can split a cord in no time flat . THIS WAS A GOOD BUY ALOT BETTER THAN BUYING NEW .I SAVED WELL OVER 1500.00 IF YOU FIND A OLD SPLITTER

What a difference!,

"I replaced a "mystery" single stage pump on a log splitter project with this 2 stage pump. I'm impressed. Coupled to a 13 hp Honda with a 4"x 28" cylinder, there is nothing that this pump can't drive my wedge through, yet. I actually bent a 1" thick plate steel stop with a stubborn log!
I have at least a hundred hours and $1500 dollars into bulding my own log splitter from the ground up. If anyone wants some free advice, buy! Don't Build! This pump was a real motivation saver, I can split a 16" x 24" round of green doug fir in half. Yahoo!!! Yeah, I spent a lot of time and money for what I could have purchased. It was fun though, and it kept me out of trouble. Plus, my log splitter can hold an ice chest!
I hope that anyone purchasing this pump enjoys the beauty of 2 stages, like I do."

"I run a small landscaping, home maintenance, and remodeling business and we heat our home in New England with just fire wood. As a result of both of these, we do a ton of log splitting. Years ago I designed and fabricated a logsplitter, and over the years have used Northern to replace parts and make improvements and upgrades. There are no longer any of the original hydraulics on the unit. My latest round of upgrades was from a 5 horse to an 8 and from a one stage smaller pump to this 16 gpm two stage unit. The results are excellent! Not only does this two stage decrease the cycle time to less than half, when coupled with the increased engine size, also allow the unit to split right through the toughest sections of wood no problem. Installation and hookup were very easy and the unit works well with the log splitter control valve Northern offers. My only concern when I opened the box were some hairline cracks in the unit's housing--which appear to be just cosmetic casting cracks, so you might want to check yours when you get it. I will be making a larger unit over the next year or so and because of the great service and ease of use, I will certainly hit the Northern site for supplies."

"I have trusted Northern Tool for years. So when I needed a pump for my wood splitter the first place I went to was Northerntool.com I checked out all the models and I ordered the (Haldex Hydraulic Pump — 16 GPM, 2-Stage, Model# 1001507) in a few days I received the pump very easy to attach or mount and good instructions, the hose fittings went right on very simple, with-in a hour I was back to splitting wood.

"I purchased this pump for a log splitter I was building. It is was very straight forward on the installation and I encountered no problems. The pump seems to be very solidly built. It definitely has some heft to it. I did purchase the pump mounting bracket to help facilitate the mounting of the pump to the engine. I attached it to an 8 hp Honda styled engine. So far I have not encountered any problems with the pump. It has performed exaclty as expected."
