Submersible Pump,
April 14, 2008
By DandyRacing
from Baytown, TX
"We have a low area beside our house. When it rains, water stands there for a couple of days. The water is usually about 1-1 1/2" deep. I installed this pump in a permanent location with a remote on/off switch. It removes the water enough so that it dries in a few hours. Good value for the pump and the quality seems good for this use."

Great Little Pump!,
November 3, 2009
By Excited
from Hamburg, NY
"You cannot beat the performance level of this water pump. I was really surprised at the GPM it can produce when compared to the same size (different brand name) pumps on the market. Another thing you can't beat is Northern's competitive prices- way below the prices found any where else! This is a great pump to drain off pool covers and lower the water level on your inground pool when preparing for the winter season closing."

This baby Rocks!!,
November 2, 2009
By PinkToolBelt

"I bought this pump, quite frankly, because it was on sale and it seemed like something that I should have on hand since I live in a house with an underground basement/garage. Boy was I right. During an early evening summer storm a few months ago, I walked into the garage only to be met by water that had already made it's way into my garage about 6' inside...headed fast toward my cabinets and storage area! To my dismay, I realized the tandem dump truck load of mulch that had been delivered the previous day- was dumped on the drain basin where all of my french drains come together for runoff!!! Moving the mulch would take days!!! Then I remembered the tiny little pump that I bought on sale at Northern. I didn't even have a hose for it-but on a wing and a prayer, I rigged a fitting with some electrical tape and a water hose and plugged that pump in! 22 gallons a minute or so, I believe is what the box said...let me tell you what...! I have never been so glad to see water moving that quickly in my life! Literally, within 10 minutes my garage and basement were out of harms way and I was amazed!!!
Since then, I have used the pump to empty the 2400 gallon kiddie pool that we used this summer and loaned it to a friend to do the same! I have also purchsed the correct fittings and hose for the pump and cannot imagine not having around just for peace of mind! This was a totally awesome "because it was on sale" purchase!!!!!

Northern Industrial Submersible Pump,
October 19, 2009
By Littlered
from Camden, Arkansas
"I bought this product on a whim because I needed to pump water out of flower beds. It has worked beautifully every time I've used it. The only thing I see wrong with it is it doesn't have a low level switch on it and will run even with no water to pump. That is my fault, I should have bought the one with the low level switch. It was (at that time) only $10 more and I should have opted to pay that! Yes, I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a relatively inexpensive pump and doesn't mind watching for low water level."

Little Workhorse,
July 20, 2009
By CCMilo
from Milford, CT
"Purchase a house last year and needed a pump to pump water off of an inground pool cover. This little pump is GREAT. It works very quick and better than some more well known (overpriced) brands. Since I purchased a safety cover, I no longer use it to pump off the cover, but do use it lower the level in the pool after heavy rainstorms. Great little workhorse."

submersible pump,

By Rallen

"I ordered this pump to drain a 20,000 gallon swimming pool and it has performed flawlessly for me. I also use it to drain my hot tub. With the poly hose I purchased also, it can discharge to 25 feet and additional hose can be coupled together for longer discharge distances. A very good pump!"

short life,
February 24, 2009
By pool4Jim
from Bay Area, CA
"The pump really puts out as advertized and will drain down to 1/4" BUT not intended for long term submersion (ok for a few hours at a time but that's all). Great for draining a shallow pond (2 or 3 feet), but as an emergency replacement for a pond/pool filter pump it will fail. The seal failed and I replaced it, but it quickly started to leak into the moter again and blow a GFI plug."

"I had searched for a pump to remove water from my inground swimming pool cover. I didn't want to pay over $75.00 and needed it to be efficient because during the winter months it is not always possible to use.I found this pump to be very efficient and the cost was reasonable."

Excellent recirculating pump,
November 18, 2008
By TimE30
from San Diego, CA
"I use this pump to recirculate ice water through a copper heat exchanger, chilling newly made beer before I ferment it. This pump works extremely well and allows me to save gallons of water and speed up the brewing day. It has held up extremely well over the last 2 years and I expect it to give me many more years, and many batches of beer, of great service."

Northern Industrial Submersible Pump,
November 17, 2008
By Tomdan
from Fairfax Station, Virginia
"These are great pumps; you cannot beat them for the price. One good feature is that you can screw a standard garden hose onto the pump. I bought one pump to empty the water from our swimming pool cover and I liked the pump so well I bought another one to pump out fountain basins when I clean them out in the spring. This little pump was also a great help when I was putting in a garden pond and it kept raining. With this little pump, I was able to keep out all the unwanted rain water out of my excavation site. Thank you Northern Tool!"

Poor Quality Construction,

By Cottro

"I purchased 2 of these pumps. In both cases the bottom screen cracked and pieces fell off - causing the pump to easily clog. If this part was better made these would have been an excellent buy - but with a broken bottom screen they are only good for picking up clear water."

Submersible Pump - 1/8 HP,
August 15, 2008
By clance
from Ruidoso, NM
"I have a cistern water supply system for my primary residence. Once or twice a year I may have to haul water to keep the system operational. I do this with a 220 gallon tank in the back of an old suburban. It takes 10 minutes to fill the tank at an artesian well. Because the storage tanks are under the house I have to back the suburban over rocks and around trees to get as close as I can. I use a 3/4 inch garden hose and gravity to empty the tank. It takes 1 hour and 15 minutes. With this pump I use the same hose and park the suburban in the driveway. It takes 15 minutes to empty the tank. It makes life a little easier. The pump works as advertized."
