Some issues,
July 29, 2008
By JustJoe

"Although this pump looks good, it has several issues that make it less then usefull for a shallow well.
1) It does not connect to a normal 1 1/4" pipe so some kind of adapter needs to be added. Very hard to do and keep good suction.
2) Inside of the cylinder is really rough. Also the rubber does not fit the cylinder very well. I am going to a pump with leather gaskets. Again, hard to keep good suction.
3) Does not have a Can't Freeze drain feature so the pump and pipe can not be drained by lifting the handle.
This pump might be fine for decoration or in a barrel. but for a shallow well, I am going to something with leathers and more standard pipe fitting. Worth the $10-$15 extra. I would bring this back except I purchase last fall and just installed the well this spring.

Didn't work at all,
June 11, 2008

"I set up the pump and I couldn't get it primed so I resealed all the connections with no improvement. I disassembled the pump and the seal wasn't making a seal with the cylinder wall. I reconditioned the seal and it still didn't work. I've used this type of pump before and when you press on the handle I did feel any resistance like you would with a pump that had a good seal. Also there was quite a few unpainted areas that all had surface rust. Not very good for something that was suposed to be new."

"Just hooked up the pump., works like a charm. 1 1/4" thread. if your looking for a show pump, you will need to repaint. Ugly green fast spray painted, but a well built pump. well worth the money."

Not great, but the price is right,
October 8, 2007

"This pump seems to work well and is definitely worth the price, but there are a few annoying quirks:
1) The thread on the pump is an odd micro- groove that doesn't fit any standard plumbing thread, and I have not been abel to find an adaptor. I went with a compression fitting for the time being. If anyone has a better solution to this, I'd like to know.
2) The pump housing begins to rust almost immediately once outside.

Northern Industrial Hand Press Pump,
July 16, 2007
By SallyJo
from Yakima, WA
"I ordered the hand press pump for my husband for Father's Day. We set it up in our yard as a decoration. It has unique detailing that gives it a rustic look. We saw a similar pump at an antique store for $75 but we were able to get it much cheaper thru Northern Tool. The fact that it is a real, working pump is great, and we can set it up that way in the future if we choose to. Using the web site to order was unbelievably easy, and we received it very fast."
