Northern Industrial Cast Iron Clear Water Pump,July 9, 2007
By robeleefrom Frankford, Missouri
"I was looking for a pump to circulate and filter the water in our pool. Most pool pumps are very expensive and this little pump was very well priced. I purchased one and installed it on the pool, with a filter on the inlet side. It is set to run 12 hrs. a day, 7 days a week. It has performed exceptionally well and would recommend it to anybody. If for some unforseen reason I need to replace it, I would buy another one. It has excellent suction and is quiet running."

Good Pump, Good Value, Wish it were self priming,November 2, 2009
By PumperMark
"This is a great little pump for the value. As the title says I wish it were self priming. There is a set screw at the top which needs to be opened in order to prime it. Once it is primed this thing keeps going.
While this is billed as a water pump, I use it for non flammable oils. The viscosity does not seem to affect this pump.

Little pump,October 19, 2009
By CABOOSECHASERfrom Upstate New York
"I needed an inexpensive water pump to irregate a large garden at a remote site. I mounted this small pump on the cart of my 3000 watt generator. I plugged in a cord and wired in a waterproof switch inline. I ran 1 1/4 black plastic pipe with 4 sprinkler heads. Water was trucked in, and connections made with quick couplings. I only used it for a few weeks, but it seemed work nicely for the time I used it."

Great Pump for the Price,July 20, 2009
By nt2hndyfrom Northern CA
"I have used this pump for several years. It continues to perform. I had problems with the other (cheaper) "blue pump" from the other guys. The better components must be the reason for longer service. Good product."

Buyer Beware,April 21, 2009
By FarmUsefrom Virginia
"We bought this pump to be used for pushing clean water through plastic tubing used in food processing. We chose this pump because it was cheap but pushed a lot of water. We've been very disappointed with this pump. We are now working on our third pump. The first never worked right out of the box. The 2nd unit worked for one season and then the best we could get out of it was an electric buzz. Before you buy, be aware that you'll need to wire the pump yourself. If it is available, get the extended warranty. Save yourself some frustration by looking for a similar pump already wired that is self-priming."

Northern Industrial Cast Iron Clear Water Pump — 7,March 16, 2009
By birdislandfrom Corpus Christi, Texas
"I use this little workhorse in my water system at a remote fishing cabin. For the price, you can't find a better pump. As long as your pressure tank and pressure switch is set properly, this pump will give you years of service. Because of our remote location (an island accessible only by boat) I purchased two (one for backup) and have not worn out the first one! Three years and running.
I would highly recommend this product."

Nice working pump,March 1, 2009
By RoysGTIfrom Fort Myers, FL
"I purchased this pump when it was on sale and have been very happy. I use it to transfer WVO (Waste Vegetable Oil) and it handles it very well. It leaks a little bit, but doesn't take it much to get it primed. Great pump for little money."

waterproof,February 24, 2009
By pool4Jimfrom Bay Area, CA
"Nice external pump, waterproof, hard working, continous operation, not effected by high temp (direct sunlight in 90 degree day). Too bad it won't start up without priming (must be fully primed to start) and that it chokes if a big air bubble comes along. I mounted it several feet below water level and it has been fine, no seal leakage, no external covering."

Not good for cycling,November 19, 2008
By NCCanuckfrom Durham, NC
"Purchased two of these pumps for a pair of water harvesting systems. Set up to cycle with a pressure control set to 20 - 40 psi with an expansion tank on the system. This required the pump to cycle on and off every couple of minutes. After five or ten cycles it would just not start. Turning the fan slightly would get it started again, I tried swapping the starter condensers and it made no difference.
I will modify my system to run continuously with a bypass - energy inefficient and a poor design, but don't want to go out and buy another pair of pumps.
Otherwise, it seems to be solidly made and welI suited to the task. Too bad it isn't reliable. If you need this pump to run unattended and start every time then this is not your product."

OK Pump for the money,November 18, 2008
By Snutrfrom Massachusetts
"It's an OK pump but I needed to un-stick the impeller every time I wanted to use it. I bought it at Northern Tool but it was "on sale" for half the price listed here so I bought two of them. They are great for pumping water out of rain barrels."

Pump is great,November 18, 2008

"You can't go wrong with this pump. The price is right and as long as you don't need a self priming pump this pump will push waste vegetable oil up to 50 psi!"
