Woodland International Chain Saw Buddy, Model# CB 41

The Chain Saw Buddys unique design allows you to cut downed wood without grounding the chain. Two swing arms hold the wood from underneath as two serrated uprights hold the wood in place and prevent the wood from rolling or climbing the chain. Attaches to gas or electric chain saws with bars 14in. and longer. No chain saw modifications or special tools required.

Good idea but...,

"...in the first month of use (not steady use either) the tool slipped during use and I didn't notice it until I was churning up dirt. And then on closer inspection, one of the pins that is supposed to stop the arm from moving up too high (and allowing the chain to dig into the dirt) was missing. I should be able to drill holes in the bar to keep the tool from slipping, and maybe find a pin to replace the missing one."

Use of chainsawbuddy,

"The chainsawbuddy works well for cutting wood up to 8 in. in diameter. As the chain digs in the two serrated uprights will keep the wood from rolling if used properly. There are two settings for the serrated uprights one for wood up to 4 in. diameter the other for larger wood. The chainsawbuddy is a fast way of cutting wood laying on the ground. I use this product every year to clean my yard of fallen branches and to cut firewood."

Now sharp chains,

"I cut a lot of firewood and was forever grounding the saw when cutting smaller wood on the ground. I saw this item advertised and ordered. It is simple to instal and woorkd fine. It takes a short time to get accustomed to using but after the brief learning time works great. Is best if you have two saws since it takes a couple minutes to instal and remove. I have only had one small problem and the fastners have a tendency to become loose with saw vibration. Lock tight took care of that problem."

Chain Saw Buddy,
November 18, 2008
By HamptonLogger

"The Chain Saw Buddy can be very useful for specific circumstances - you have a lot of medium-sized logs (7"-12") on the ground, and want to chunk them up quickly without dulling your chain. The Buddy will work with other sizes, but smaller logs tend to spin, and larger ones are more difficult to place in the swing arms. Don't plan on trimming branches or felling trees with the Buddy on, and it will be necessary to occasionally tighten it during use. That said, the product works fine, attaches and detaches in under a minute, and makes short work of downed logs without the necessity of a peavey or sawhorse, and keeps your chain sharp."
