Worth the money.,
October 6, 2009
By Jagdhund
from McPhersn, KS
"Level of difficulty for assemby was moderate for anyone experienced with hand tools and working without an assistant. The assembly instructions were obviously written by someone for whom English is a second language, i.e. "Tighten the nut smugly". I deviated from the assembly instructions somewhat. I wish I had made one other change from the instructions. I did not flip the trailer over to bolt on the springs and axle. I set the frame on jack stands and bolted everything together right-side-up. Also, it seems to me it would have been much easier to run the wiring system through the frame rails and tongue before assembly, rather than pulling the wiring thru the frame with a wire. the instructions don't always match what bolts were shipped. I had to buy three bolts, but that is a minor expense. Everyone who has seen the trailer thought it was a great bargain."

rugged steel trailer,
September 7, 2009
By albass

"Assembly was a complete breeze. I laid everything out and put it together in no time. Wiring was easy enough. Feeding the wiring through the frame was a mission, but I got it done without too much frustration. first trip was two hours with a sunfish aboard, and it held up fine. Made a couple more trips and still no more problems. Might even try to beef it up a little bit and transport a snowmobile this winter.
I would've payed more for something this simple and reliable.

Best boat trailer for the money,
July 23, 2009
By hdwally
from Armstrong Creek, WI
"I needed a boat trailer for a 12 foot boat. Ordered this trailer online and received it within a week. Opened the 3 boxes and put the trailer together in about 3 hours. Impressed with the grease zerks on the wheels and the wiring for all the lights. After putting it all together I tested the lights and they all worked the first time. Great trailer"

Outstanding value,
July 21, 2009
By DougFur
from As north in Wisconsin as you can get
"This trailer is an excellent value even though it requires the full 3 hours to assemble as the instructions suggest. Also the product description is incorrect as printed on the nameplate the GAWR is 1180lbs. with the 4.8 X 8 tires supplied. The trailer can now handle a 1000lb boat as I understand these figures. I will be hauling my boat 4000 miles back and forth to FL every year so I upgraded the wheels to 12" so the bearings won't get such a beating and this leaves one with two 8" wheels as spares.
Don't consider the assembly instructions infallable, especially the size of the two fasteners used to install the leaf springs. The correct fasteners are included, they are just much larger than the instructions call for."

Great Trailer for $$,
April 23, 2009
By fishercat
from Eastern CT
"Recently purchased this trailer and it is 100% better than any other small boat trailer you can purchase from a dealer (and half the price).
Directions were easy to follow, and assembly was not too time consuming (about 4HRS to complete)-by myself. All holes lined up exceptionally well during the assembly process, and the completed trailer has a very nice overall look and finish. Once completed this trailer fit my 12' aluminum V-hull with minimal adjustments. Have hauled my boat/gear approx 75 total miles so far, and no problems to date.
The only assembly advice I would give is: to use pneumatic tools, and to have an electricians snake available for running the trailer light wiring. Everything else is a breeze.
Only a couple things I would change:
1) wooden bunks and brackets are free-floating, and you can not easily lock them into a stationary position. Bunks should have 2 brackets instead of one to eliminate this problem.
2) No washers or locking washers supplied. Due to the amount of nuts and bolts required for assembly, they should include in the package. Nuts are nylon-locking, but washers would be an extra +
Have added the following extra's which should be considered: 600lb boat winch and trailer jack."

Rugged Little Trailer,
March 24, 2009
By basher81
from Calgary, Alberta, Canada
"This is a great little trailer. Exactly as described it is perfect for my 12'6" Aluminum fishing boat. It was extremely easy to assemble and looks great finished. This trailer tows easily and I don't even notice it behind my Ford Ranger 4.0 liter. With the addition of a winch and spare tire it is now the whole package deal. With a little assistance from a friend to flip the frame I was able to complete the trailer in a little over four hours including wiring. Thanks Northern Tool."

Inexpensive, High Quality Trailer,
November 18, 2008
By Bruck

"It was the best trailer for the price; I got it for my 12' fishing boat. I was able to assemble it in a weekend (abt 5 hrs total time). I have been using it without any trouble for several months. I did have to get longer standoffs for the wood supports due to my boat's V hull."

Perfect Trailer For My Fishing Boat,
November 17, 2008
By GrandBigDaddy
from Smyrna, Georgia
"This is the perfect trailer for my 14 foot fishing boat! EZ to assemble, small enough to move to my truck, yet large enough and strong enough to accomodate my boat, motor, accessories and tackle.
This wonderful product 'trailers' and manuvers beautifully.
Also, the price is far less than all of the other boat trailers I looked at.
Lots of fishermen have seen my trailer and want to go to Northern Tools in Marietta to get their own."

Not bad...,
October 17, 2008
By Smoke242
from VA
"Though I am not mechanically inclined my brother is, with his help building the trailer was a snap, had he not been there it would have taken me about twice as long if not longer. Once we had it built we took parts off and customized it for my kayak.
I picked it up at the Virginia Beach store and one of the boxes was barely able to hold the items any more. One instruction stumped us when it said to push the cotter pins through the end of a bolt, the picture showed holes in the bolt but there were none in the actual bolt. Then once we got the bolts in, there was no room for the pins any way. When it was complete we were one bolt shy and had about 10 extra nuts... which was odd.
If I can, I will update this after my VA to KS trip next week, 1000+ miles will be a good test for the trailer.

RUGGED STEEL TRAILER 600LB BOAT,
October 9, 2008
By BOBBIEBULLDOG
from Bluefield, Va
"Bought on line after reading all reviews. Boxes came a couple of days apart and one box ripped all to pieces. However, all parts were present and nothing missing. Assembled myself with hand tools. Took a little while longer than most, but wanted to ensure all bolts were tight and everything lined up. Added jack and winch and spare tire carrier. Have used the trailer since May08 to haul 14 foot VHULL with 7.5 motor and gear inside boat. First trip I stopped every so often to check tires, hitch and bolts. All were perfect. Lights work perfect except when you back into a post they tend to break, however, exact replacement easy to find. Have used it off and on all summer with no problem.
Will grease bearing and she will be ready for the rest of the fall and spring. For the money, this is just a plain good buy.

Great Buy,
August 19, 2008
By jollyroger
from South Carolina
"This is a great buy for a small boat trailer. After buying a boat and needing a trailer, I checked with a few boat dealers and found I would have to pay over $900 for a new trailer. This is a great price and works fine for the 14 ft, V-bottom boat I now have. Assembly was very easy, if if your a not a handyman. i did modify the bunks to make it more of a drive-on trailer. This can be done very easy. Be sure to follow the directions and check bolt sizes, length, etc. to make sure you put the correct bolt in that location. There are also some good attachments for this trailer."

"I enjoyed the assembly of this trailer. All the correct nuts and bolts were included and the instructions were straight forward. I changed out the receiver to fit a 2" ball for convenience. I have been using it for towing a 14 foot jonboat for about 6 months and its worked great. You can't beat it for the money/"

high quality,
August 13, 2008
By nath

"I was a little concerned about the quality of this product at first, mostly because it seemed like to good of a deal. Boy was I wrong. This is a heavy duty steel trailer perfect for a 12-14' fishing boat. Assembly was easy as long as you can line up a couple holes and put a bolt through. Anyone looking but still not sure this trailer is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED."

#12541 steel boat trailer for 12' or 14' boat,
August 12, 2008
By Canuk
from St. Andrews, Manitoba, Canada
"The order was shipped promptly but the packaging was torn in many places.
Thankfully none of the hardware was lost.
This package was relatively easy to assemble in spite of the translated
instructions. A few more detailed pictures would have been helpful. Air
tools are a definite asset.
The trailer itself works well for my 14" aluminum fishing boat. The
only compain is the really cheap bunks that support the rear of the
boat. They are way too flimsy, do not stay straight and are not angled
to match the hull as in most trailers. In my opinion i will need to
replace and modify these in a very short time.
All in all, this is a good value for the price!

My new little trailer,
August 11, 2008
By butch11
from Ward, Arkansas
"This is one of the best small trailers for the money. The directions for putting the boat together are quiet easy. I accomplished this task in a few hours after work with the help of my daughter, (she likes to be with dad and help, plus ask lots of questions. Great for bonding)and yes wiring was no problem. Been fishing many times with a driving distance to lake of 20 miles and have never had a problem with towing or loading the boat. Thank you for the product."

great dingy trailer,
August 11, 2008
By RodneyM
from Stateline, Nevada
"It is a great trailer for towing our 10' 3" dingy. We have only experienced one problem with the wood support bars on the back frame staying in the tightened position. With an extra hole and bolt through the wood we hope to alivate the problem. Other than that the kit was easy to put together. The instructions did lack in some ways and there were not enought of the correct size bolts with several of other sizes left over. With higher priced trailers this was well worth any of the small problems mentioned."

"This is a great trailer. I purchased it online about a month ago, on sale. Very easy to assemble, It took me about 2 hours, I used air compressor and air tools in the assembly to speed up process. I would recommend that you also purchase a trailer jack and a hand winch, to help with loading and unloading.
Great trailer, Great price, works great with my fishing boat (14' 6"). I couldn't be more please with it.

600 lb. boat trailer,
July 3, 2008
By Themelster
from Lake Country in Wisconsin
"I was fortunate to go to my local Store for this trailer. I made several modifications to acomodate my 16' Old Town Camper Canoe. I used "horses" to hold trailer up during assembly (56 yr. old woman). I am very pleased with the trailer and the price was great; got it on sale. My biggest challenge has been learning how to back it up. The assembly was easy and even easier to modify. I can now take my tandem canoe fishing when I don't have a companion to help with the loading overhead on my suv. Gotta go, gotta go fishing! See ya on the water!"
