"Bought the trailer for my son and wife to camp with. I built the sides, floor and painted it Ohio State colors. Kit went together very easly. I used all treated wood for the build and much of the other hard ware from Nothern Tool.
The side come off easly so the trailer can stand on it's end with the tires off - it won't take up much space.

Kit utility trailer

"It took me about 5 hours to assemble the trailer. There was nothing really tricky about it. Once assembled I added a deck to the frame, then attached a 20 cu foot car top carrier. I loaded the carrier up with camping gear, and set off on a 5000 mile trip. The trailer performed exceptionally. It tracks well behind the car. I pretty much kept my cruising speed around 65MPH. It is a tough little trailer, I had no issues with it."

Nifty little trailer

"Easy to assemble (just need to have a grease gun on hand to lube the bearings) and works great. I gave mine away after years of use when I bought a pickup truck (figuring I wouldn't need it any longer) -- now I wish I had it back! Great for hauling rented equipment, etc."

"a nice item, complete with all parts in the package. decent quality and good powder coat paint. the only to mark down comments would be: 1. the assembly is not for the totally inexperienced, it can take a little time, but the end result after everything is squared up and tightened down is very good. 2. i did not find instructions for the light kit. that being said it was complete and trailer light standards are well known, not that difficult to complete that task. lights all worked first time. tires, wheels, bearings all look like good quality."

Owned since 1984...

"I added a 4x8 sheet of 5/8 inch plywood for a flat bed. I cut the front corners to fit flush with the car bumper at tight turning radii. Then framed the bed with 3" grooved solid wood siding to stiffen the flat bed. Added heavy galvanized eyelets upside down under the bed for load strap tie-down points. This gives me an almost 4' x 8' long bed for hauling stuff. The resulting trailer stows vertically in my garage and my car still fits in the same stall with the trailer. This is why after almost 30 years the trailer, other than a heavily beatup wood bed, looks new (no frame rust, paint still in new condition, etc). I had to replace smashed lights (RV shops have these at inexpensive prices). I also think I should add vertical poles on the rear corners of the trailer so I can see where it is when I'm backing up. Otherwise with smaller loads, it's almost invisible behind the car. I've also had people approach me in parking lots asking if I'd like to sell this trailer.
Use standard towing load leveling practices for this trailer. i.e. 10% or more of the load weight should be on the hitch to reduce the possibility of fishtailing at higher speeds. I regularly tow this trailer at freeway speeds, sometimes with loads at or near it's maximum load rating (probably slightly over sometimes when hauling landscape rocks).
I keep waiting for this trailer to fail, but it keeps doing what I want year after year even with many (many) thousands of miles on it. I check tire pressure and (less frequently) add bearing grease as needed before use.
It gets used for hauling desks, beds, bookcases, sofa's, big screen TV, etc from stores, heavy loads of lumber for home projects, ride-a-mower to the shop, 700lb motorcycle to the shop, Christmas trees every year to keep sap off the car, garbage to the dump, kids stuff for college (when it's too small a load for the inconvenience of renting an enclosed U-Haul trailer). I cover the load with tarp and cargo net with heavy load straps over the load when it's wet out, or for long trips. I loan this setup to friends and will replace it without hesitation if it ever breaks. My trailer gets used about 8-12x a year. I can't imagine owning a home without one. My trailer configuration is small enough that it would fit vertically in an apartment garage with car."

Great little trailer

,
August 15, 2012

"I purchased this trailer to haul camping gear for my family annual trip into the wilderness. My wife and I both drive compact cars so we needed something to carry enough gear for 5 people. The trailer arrived in 3 small packages. I thought I ordered the wrong item. Anyways, it took me a couple of evenings to put it together, probably a total of 2 or 3 hours. I ended up putting an 1/4" aluminum diamond plate deck on it. Then I made a wooden box. I used 2"x 2" to reinforce 1/4 plywood exterior. It ended up being 30" wide x 48" long x 30" tall. It was just enough to carry all my gear.
The trailer worked out great. It tracked straight as an arrow and never wobbled. I got it up to 75/80 mph several times without a problem.
Registration was not a problem at all. The bill of sale actually arrived before the trailer. Once assembled, I took it down to the local DMV office and $40 and 1 hour later I had plate and registration in hand. In California, the plate/registration is good for 4 years and takes $20 to renew.
I would recommend this trailer to anyone owning a compact car that needs extra room on trips. It works and looks great.

"Prompt shipping and no damage to start with. Well packaged. This kit is very complete and all the items are high quality - it is made in Taiwan and not China. It was easy to put together - everything fit, all the bolts were there, no sharp edges. This is a tough little trailer. I like it."

Yes - A teeny car can pull this!

,
April 15, 2012
By NoTruckNeeded

"I needed a small, light trailer to pull with my little two door hatchback. This is perfect! I miss my truck, but this handles many of the things I used to use my gas guzzler for - like going to the dump (holds 2 45- gallon, plus 2 35-gallon trash barrels), transporting mulch, top soil etc. Great when you need to get something repaired, like a snow blower, or when you need to bring messy things like a chainsaw (that you don't want to leek oil out all over inside your car). I even had it 3/4 full of pea gravel one day! (My little car's brakes were the limiting factor here - I wouldn't recommend doing this every day.) If I need a truck, I borrow one! Why drive a truck to and from work when you're not hauling anything? It's easy to hitch and unhitch and move areound by hand. I've had this trailer for 6 years, and the axle finally rusted out - driving year-round in vermont with salt on the roads in winter. I'm getting another one today. What better testimonial than that? I don't have anything bad to say about this trailer. The price is great as well. Very sturdy and takes quite a bit of weight."

Really Nice for the Price

"Great little trailer for the money. I modified mine into a 48"x48" Square Box Trailer. It is exactly what I needed. The quality is pretty good. I barely even notice it behind be when it's empty. It is extremely light weight and easy to mover around and hook up. It takes about 6 hours to build it the way I did. I have a double thickness plywood deck and a 24" high boxed in wall unit that I custome built to hold the stuff I will be hauling. It's worth the money. Period."

It is a bit short but for the price it is not beaten by any of the competition.

"This is a very solid trailer that is manufactured, I believe, in Taiwan (China), which is known for its quality products. The assembly was fairly easy. The nuts and bolts went together perfectly. I probably should have had a torque wrench because the threads require quite a bit of muscle. Some spots are difficult to reach, and I used two same-size wrenches, one having the multi wrench ball, which worked for me. Bolting the trailer together took me one afternoon. Packing the wheel bearings is also fairly easy, and the instructions explain how it’s done. Here in PA, I had to get an inspection, get it weighed at an approved weigh station, and register it. To pass the inspection, I needed a deck, and I used 1/2” plywood, which works great. All of those additional steps cost me as much, or more, than the trailer but in the end, it was a worthwhile project. I also installed plywood sidewalls, which allow me to load the trailer with yard clippings. Regarding the wiring, I usually don’t do any electrical work but this was fairly simple, and I used electrical tape to insulate the connections. On my car, the light harness hookup installed by a rental truck company didn’t match, and I had to snip that off, in order to twist on the correct plug. The assembly instructions were somewhat difficult to locate because they’re glued to the inside of one of the boxes. I couldn’t find them at first, and Northern Tool kindly faxed me a replacement. Because the registration process required a copy of the owner’s manual, this second copy came in handy."

Great trailer, great price

,
July 12, 2011

"~After pricing the costs to build my own trailer, I settled on buying this one as the cost of the whole set up was less than just the axle assembly.
~It came promptly in 3 boxes, with everything but the decking and a jack. It went together fairly easy with just myself doing it.
~A negative, the wiring harness was a bit short, but an easy fix by just adding wire. An unnecessary splice nonetheless.
~The certificate of origin came 2 days later, which was great, as it was a concern based on other reviews.
~A few mods to add a toolbox and a tongue jack and it will be complete.
~With a GVW of just over 1000#, it should carry anything you can fit!
~note: the aluminum diamond plate was my choice for decking and not included.

"Bought this to bring an extra 900lb of product to a show. It would have cost about $300 to ship so this paid for itself on it's first use.
700 mile round-trip at 65mph. This little trailer performed well and is so small I can store it in the basement until next year. Keep it loaded or it will bounce all over the place..."
