I purchased this ball to do general duty on my pickup, pulling my car trailer, going to the rental yard etc. One small complaint though. There is no provision to hold the ball while you tighten the nut ! Most balls have some flats machined into the base for this. Other than this small problem that can be worked around with an impact wrench and a 1 1/2 socket it's OK. ☺
Few years ago, bought a Honda with the "tow package." Figured it'd come with all the parts necessary to actually tow something - HA! Discovered only a few days before I needed to tow a log splitter home for the weekend that I had a "draw bar" but not a "hitch ball" (had no idea what any of these were prior to this adventure).
Searching online for a 2" dia. hitch ball turns up about 4 gazillion options. NT's website provided the most concise and relevant information, great images of the product, a reasonable price for a large hunk of metal, and an option to ship it to me on time for the weekend's work. The product arrived on time, fit on the draw bar perfectly and worked to pull the log splitter home and back without trouble. Further, the hitch ball fit on the Deere lawn tractor, allowing me to tow the splitter from driveway out to the woods, saving me the hassle of hauling logs twice.
5 stars. My business is crafting bells out of recyled air cylinders. i use the ball hitch on the top of some of my bells as the crown and then weld a ring on it to hang the bell. the ball hitches are well made so i can put them on my lathe and machine them to make unique swirls and cuts to give a zen look. I;ve tryed other brands and found them to be out of round. these quality ball hitches have cut my machine time down and increase my bell sales. Who would of thought a ball hitch could create such beauty... The Bellman....
