Love my Warn, but this is a good fit too

"I love my Warn winch. If Warn made a 15K winch, I'd buy it. That said, this is a bargain and a real workhorse for what it is. Put this on my buddy's M35A2 Deuce truck. He brings it out when we do light trail duty and is the main puller if we get our Jeeps stuck. So far, so good. When he's not doing trail duty, he also uses this winch in his shop to pull out frames and hang engines (when the engine is bigger than his cherry picker will allow). He has used it for hundreds of hours with zero problems. Again, I'd rather have a Warn just because I know and trust it, but if you are looking at generics and want a BIG winch, this is your pick."

"I'm a home handyman/tree cutter and I have used this winch to bring down some 60-70 foot tall pine trees. I'm getting ready to use it again to bring down a tall tree that's leaning over a house. I have complete confidence that it will do the job with ease. This thing is a beast that has gotten me out of a hairy situation with a tree that went the wrong way and landed in the crotch of another tree. Buy with confidence! I have been won over to the Northern Tool brand because of quality. One way they could improve the winch(as with other winches I have seen) is to somehow mark the release lever better and make it so that there is a more positive feel to what position the lever is in, whether it's free wheel or in winch mode. I know it looks self explanatory when you see it but it's difficult to pull the cable when I think it's in free wheel position. Maybe it's just due to the length of the cable.
My winch is mounted on the front end of my truck with the optional winch bracket Northern sells that enables one to mount the winch in a two inch receiver for hitches; it's a nice setup that allows me to conveniently remove it when I want to.
When I was doing my research on which winch to buy I noticed that Northern's winches looked just like the much more expensive Warn winches and that the specifications were the same as well. I expect I'll be using this thing for the rest of my life."
