"I bought two of these floor jacks, they work quite well. I just had one minor problem, one of the jacks didn't have any pins with it."

Does the job

"I bought 12 of theses to re-align a sagging floor in an 80 year old ranch home. With a minimum of 7 tons of strength each it was a bit of overkill on my part since I was only spanning about 36 feet. But I was doing the job myself and needed them as extra hands sometimes. And they worked well. They are easy enough to assemble and are light weight enough to manuever with one hand. It took me about a day and a half to complete the job using them in combination with some 6x6 beams. I basically built a load bearing adjustable wall down the center of my basement that could lift/hold 84 tons for about $450 between the wood and the jacks.
I will note that 2 of the jacks screw tops were a bit warped out of the box. I had them in place before I noticed. At that point I did not have the time to take them out and return them as they were a special order. I needed to complete the job asap. As of yet they have not warped anymore under the weight. That's the only reason I did not rate them a full 5 stars.

Floor Jack

"Ordered 2 of these, they were shipped in their individual boxes. Both boxes damaged, one pin missing from each box. Contacted Northern, they shipped replacements fast, no hassle.
The end plates are not attached to the jacks, they have indented areas for the jack ends to ride in. These will slip out on an uneven surface unless they are nailed in (they have holes for that purpose). The jack screw collar will spin with the threads until pressure locks it, so you'll have to hold them as you screw out the jack until it gets a good bite. The jack screws developed a light coat of surface rust shortly after unpacking, so you should give them a light coat of protectant lube.
Other than that, good solid jacks well worth the price.

Floor Jack

"It did the job I expected it to. No frills. Ends pads are merely plates with indentations, so getting them to stay put was tricky (gorilla tape can be a wonderful thing). Height adjustment pins lack hitch pins or holes to insert hitch pins, so they have a tendency to fall out too (also solved with gorilla tape). No problem with jack adjustment threads, but one of three jack sets ordered was missing the pins. A couple of 5/16" cap screws with nuts solved that, and they didn't fall out once installed. Still a "buy" recommendation. Packs back up well for storage."

Raising heavy beam

"I used two adjustable floor jacks to lift a 16 foot reinforced wood beam from floor to an 8 foot ceiling, by myself, with the aid of two Northern Farm jacks. Adjustable jacks are not really designed for this use and it took some time to constantly reset them. After getting over an initial problem with the floor jacks themselves, I was quite pleased with their performance. The intitial problem was that I could not thread the adjusting bolt into the collar on either jack- the thread fit was too tight. I used a Dremel tool to open up the collar thread, but still had to use a pipe wrench to hold the collar while I turned the adjusting bolt. I recommend that the designer consider a square or hex collar perimeter to make it easier to grasp- and check those thread dimensions! Overall I was pleased with these jacks and would recommend them. Note that I purchased a similar jack years ago to reinforce a bowed floor and did not have the thread fit problem."
