"After 30yrs our press finely gave out. While doing research I found Northern Tool and checked out their presses. I researched models and prices and found this one would fit our budget. This has turned out to be a great deal. It was easy to set up and was ready to go. It is working great in our high volume shop."

slow & easy,

"This is a great press with exceptional value. We didn't need a press that was going to be used daily, but when we needed it had to be strong enough. Lack of a motor was not a issue due to the limited use. We don't use it for production purposes. The 2 speed pump is sufficient and makes the jobs of pressing gears and bearings simple. It doesn't require a power souce so it can mounted anywhere. It is a "Must Have" tool that won't break your budget."

Indespensible tool,

"I was using my press last evening and got that usual thrill of having the right tool for the job. I remembered that I'd never written a review for it though, after using it hapily for several years, and I've decided to do so now..
This is not one of my most used tools, but when I need it, there isn't anything else that would do the job. I use it for straigntening, bending, punching and pressing gears, pullies, etc from shafts. The dual displacement pump allows me to bring the ram to the work quickly then "switch gears" and bring tremendous pressure to bear in a very controlled manner. Most bending and straightening jobs I do without even switching to the low speed.
I have never seen a hydraulic press of this quality and with these features for anywhere near the price. The only feature not present that I'd appreciate is a mounted winch to raise and lower the bed. I'll eventually make one for it but it hasn't been important enough to do yet.
I've found only one small downside. There is a very slow hydraulic oil drip from the high pressure pump."

"We did extensive research before deciding on the Arcan Hydraulic 40 ton Shop Press. It has been an excellent tool for our shop, maintaining Golf Course Equipment. It will do all the work of a more expensive press. It is a great product."
