Works better than expected

"After much research I chose the Monster line for a green friendly parts wash. I will keep buying this product for our shop and I was even impressed with their customer service. I called to talk to the company to inquire about the product and they were very friendly and even called to see how I liked the product a week later. Their customer service made a good point this product is a green alternative to a solvent product so you can't expect same results."

Not quite what it claims.

"I took a chance and bought this product even though there were many differing opinions about its abilities. I thought I'd give it a chance. Now, 6 months later I've gotten rid of it.
It claims it "is an aqueous substitute for solvent-based cleaners." Sure, it'll wash stuff but it will not break down the thick, caked on grease that most old engines have on them. I spent more time scraping than washing. It also states that it has a "Ph 7 solution with rust inhibitors, to inhibit corrosion of metal parts or steel parts." Not surprising with a water based cleaner, steel parts will rust after being washed with this product.
It did go anaerobic as stated in other reviews but it never did smell, either. I tried multiple different ways to keep the product aerated but, unfortunately, it foams like dishwashing soap so I had to trade keeping it aerated and my washer overflowing with foam vs. it going bad. Looks like I made the wrong choice. I did run the pump often and in colder months it wasn't a problem although it did freeze. Once it got hot, however, it didn't take but a couple of weeks and it was shot.
Bottom line, I don't think this product is all that it claims, costs quite a bit for something with that much hassle and that little benefit.
I'd recommend researching some other product and leave this one be.

"works pretty good in my heated 30gal parts washer. i used 6 gallons of parts cleaner to about 20 gals of water but i think ill buy another 5gal of the cleaner and add that too. it has a little harder time cleaning the caked on deep grease but over all i like it."

Monster Solution

"While this product does all it claims to do, it is hard to get the average Joe Mechanic to switch from brake cleaner or diesel fluid as these products dissolve grease more readily. I would recommend this product as advertised."

The truth about Monster

,
August 8, 2009
By TaterSalad
from Sacramento, CA
"I worked in an automotive machine shop for 4 years and I restore cars now for a hobby. I needed a cleaning solution for my parts washer. I decided to try this stuff since it is near impossible to get the old solvent that I had come to know and love. I bought 5 gallons of the Monster cleaner. I put it in a new parts washer and hoped for the best. I was very disappointed with the cleaning power of this product. I could not even take the grease off my hands. Since then I purchased and replaced the Monster with Simple Green and it works pretty darn good. Both Monster and Simple Green leave a little residue on all your parts. I take that off with carb cleaner before assembly. If you aren't convinced, buy it. Don't even think about adding water to it.... I love northern tool, I don't like this product."

Monster Parts Wash Concentrate

"After diluting to the recommended level the solution is too week to be of use, perhaps it is better not diluted.
It leaves a film on the parts and cannot remove grease.

Unhappy then happy

"I bought 25 gallons of concentrate for my parts that were greasy much like the other reviews. My parts were not coming clean, I called the company that makes the product and talked to the head monster who was kind enough to guide me through my issue. The company instructed me to add water past the point of where my pump was picking up and since the product is a quick release it was picking up the oil in which was floating at the top. Once I added the water my whole issue was resolved. It worked wonders. I appreciate the customer support I received from this company."

"I was very pleased with how well this product worked. Our company is going all green and for a water based product it out performed my expectations. We clean mostly small auto parts and it cuts the grease very easily. Will be buying more."

Useless

"I tried to clean heavy black grease off of some tractor brake parts and this stuff did absolutely nothing. Even after soaking them for a week. As one reviewer said it might be fine for light cleaning of plastic parts but forget it for anything else. A waste of money."

Very Disappointed - very pour product

,
August 20, 2008
By Anonymous
from Georgia
"I used this product full strength in both warm and tepid water. I did nothing but move the grease around. (It did a nice job washing my hands!) After about an hour of washing some steering knuckles, I let them soak overnight. The concentrate still would not dissolve any of the grease. I would have been better off with Dawn dish washing liquid in the kitchen sink.
I finally resorted to spraying concentrated Simple Green from a spray bottle on the parts and it took the grease off with little effort.
This stuff is a waste of money and if I thought I could get my money back I would pour it back in the jugs and tote it back to the store.

Welcome to the wonderful world of "Green" products

,
April 21, 2008
By 1Automan
from Greenville, SC.
"If your looking for a products that cuts through grease, dirt, and grime without having to invest some good old-fashion elbow grease, then this isn't your product. However, if you invest some time & effort then it will work for the most part, but don't expect to see the same results as the old solvent based cleaners. In fact, the product even says so right on the container.
The product isn't bad, in fact I prefer it over the Simple Green professional cleaner, but it wasn't the "Monster" I was looking for in my parts washer.
