"I don't know of anyone who enjoys taking out broken off screws. It is always a painful prossess. If the cause of the broken screw is over torqueing, this set will solve your problem every time. The reverse turning spade type drill will back out the screw stub long before you need to engage the reverse tapered thread that is already located on the shank of the drill. In this respect, this is the best technique i've ever seen. It will back out broken off threads much more readily than the simple left handed drill.
If the cause of the broken off screw (or bolt) is that the head was torqued off during an attempt at removing the bolt, then your chances of success with this set isn't too good. If the bolt was stuck to the point that the bolt head wouldn't stand the torque, than these tools probably won't bring it out either. The really good news with these tools however is the method by which they fail. These tools won't be broken off in the hole making subsequent attempt methods almost impossible. These tools fail gracefully because the left handed tapered spiral thread will simply strip out of the bolt shank leaving the bolt ready to be machined out and the hole retapped. There's nothing more disheartening than leaving a broken off hardened extraction tool stub left inside your broken off bolt with no simple further steps. Now we're talking machine shop and solid carbide end mills and more money than we really wanted to spend.
These extractors frequently save the day and at their worst, never leave you further behind than where you started."
