Hotblast stove

"I have had this stove for three years and this season will be the forth for me. This is a great stove for heating your home with. My house is 2500 sq ft with a garage that is 24 by26 with a room above it. It has no problem heating all of this space. It does take a lot of wood when I'm heating all of this but when I'm not working in my garage, I close that part off. Use large pieces of hard wood at night and close the bottom door with your spin dial open and it will last 10 - 12 hours. I live in the mountain of SW VA and the winter are cold. This was a life saver for us two years ago when we lost power for a week and the temp. was in the single digits at night and the teens in the day. Small generator (3250watts) used to power the blowers and light in the house. Only problem I have had was with the blower motors going bad. Wrote the company and they sent two new ones to replace them with which had a design improvement. No charge to me and it was after the warnenty had exspired. Great company that stands behind its products."

Big firebox, but you need it.

"The firebox is big enough to hold alot of wood, but you need a lot of wood to hold the fire overnight,
I have been using this heater for about 2 months now and am amazed at how much wood is needed to keep it going. You can fit large diameter logs in the firebox, so splitting is not as necessary as a with smaller units.
I would still recommend this heater as long as it is understood that it uses a ton of wood. I have my own wood lot, but wouldn't be happy if I had to buy wood.
I am still playing with the secondary air behind the pipe plug on the back. I may try the forced air draft control accessory to control the burn time.

US Stove HOtBlast Wood /Coal Model 1537G

"Me and my friend had one for about 15 years, his blower fan went out once, but these had two blowers works well with one. My blower blower went out a couple of years ago. Still blows plenty of heat. has very good burn times. I have had over12 hours burns with hot coals left to restart the fire when I came home. My friend burned out his grates but it was his own fault, you can't let the ashes come up to the grates and sit in hot ashes, it will burn them out in time. I sold him my grates, and I got new ones for my stove. It is nice to burn coal, I tried antracite coal it is hard coal, very clean burning and hot. you have to experiment your self. I like to able to burn more than one kind of fuel.I had one front spring go for the door damper . and one fan go out. I have not tried to see if it might just be minor repairs to get he blower going again. Overall the fire box is still good, like new. I have orginal fire bricks in it yet. Just clean it good twice a year. It will last a long time."
