"Correct coolant mixtures are important to me for boil-over protection when I'm wheeling my jeep in the Southwest desert's 100+ degree F. temperatures. Old fashion hygrometers are not that accurate and ineffective on propoleneglycol type coolants. This is where the Extech Battery Coolant/Glycol Refractometer really shines, it will test ALL types of coolant/antifreezes. All you have to do is calibrate with a couple drops of distilled water, wipe it off, add a couple drops of coolant and take the reading. Easy, fast and accurate. Additionally, you can also check the charge of your automotive battery by reading the specific gravity of the battery acid. Two tools in one and a handy storage case to boot! Well worth the investment."
