a must have for hobby and pros alike,

"i gave this helmet 5 stars on the overall rating but it is about a 4.7. i use this helmet constantly and love it. the size of the viewing area compared to any other helmet on the market for the dollar is totally the best. the helmet is long enough to cover the neck and head from sparks without being cumbersome. i do a lot of up close tig welding and don't have a problem bumping the hood against my chest. when you compare this helmets features, sensitivity, shade and 4 arc sensors (a must for tig welding or partially obstructed welding) with the monster viewing area it is the best on the market. the helmet stops work great to prevent the helmet from flipping down to far and have several adjustment stops. i only rated this helmet 4.7 out of 5 because of two minor inconveniences. the first is the helmet width. i have barn door ears and if the helmet cocks to one side or the other even slightly the deep sides of the helmet rub the edge of my ear. the other small detail is the adjustments are inside and you need to take your helmet and gloves off to adjust them even with tig gloves on i find it difficult to adjust the sensitivity but once everything is set i cant tell you how great this helmet has been. oh yeah the headband adjustment is very smooth and holds great and the helmet is light enough not to bother me at all."

Great Helmet for the Money,
November 2, 2009
By MaineWillys from Maine
"This is a great buy compared to some of the high end helmets out there. Everything works as indicated in the specs. The only thing that isn't perfect is that even with the sensitivity turned all the way down, ambient light can dim the lense. It works great unless I look up at the overhead lights or out the window on a sunny day."

Northern Industrial Large-View ADF Welding Helmet,
November 2, 2009
By Donman from Crossville, TN
"This is a great welding helmet. I love the large view, it allows me to leave my glasses on and still weld. My wife bought this for me as a gift, and it's one of the best gifts she's ever gotton me. I've had it for some time now, and it is the best welding helmet I've ever used, and I've used quite a few."

Great Welding Helmet!,

By toyotaman33 from Friendsville, TN
"This is the best welding helmet Ive ever used. It fits good, the large view is very convenient, especially when working under a truck in a tight space. It protects my whole face and neck from welding burn and splatter. Its lightweight and not very expensive. I love this helmet and would recommend it to anyone."

"i have used this helmet to do alot of welding and it holds up great only problem i had is that the replacement lenses crack really easily but it is no big deal because they still do thier job and keep the auto lense protected"

Large View Auto Filter Helmet,
July 16, 2009
By VApal from SW Virginia
"I bought this helmet for a welding class. The price is great for the combination large view and auto darkening. Welders in my class really like the helmet's large lens and light weight. I've only used the helmet about one month and it has performed well. I am concerned about the flimsy tabs that hold the filter in place and the ratcheting mech is only on one side and not both. My favorite features are the large lens, fast filter response time, and light weight."

Nice unit,

"Fast, fits my big head, big window, beats the heck out of a fixed helmet. Probably not for professional, all-day use but it has been a big help to me given my admittedly limited welding skills."

great helmet,
July 11, 2009
By will08 from Angola, NY
"This helmet would be good at any price, but the fact that it sells for a fraction of the others on the market makes it great. I have used this helmet almost daily in a professional fabrication shop and on mobile welding jobs for four months, and it works just as well as the more expensive ones. I would recommend this welding helmet for beginners and professionals alike."

Rookie review,
June 24, 2009
"I just finished my first MIG class. After the first night I knew I hated the flip down hood. This hood went on sale, and has great reviews, so I ordered it. It works great, and I will never go back to flipping.
Even though I'm a rookie welder, I know this is the hood for me."

Great Helmet,
June 14, 2009
By kmomaha from Papilion, Nebraska
"Had a $400 electronic helmet with smaller window that lasted 14 years and many drops. This is every bit as good, exact same specifications and the window size is so much better with glasses..... really nice.
Like the more pliable helmet material. Plastic panel mounting nibs may not hold up.
Batteries are a must in a helmet as the solar wafers do not always maintain a charge in dim storage."

Great helmet,
March 23, 2009
By welditrob from Forest Lakes, AZ
"Having used non-autodarkening helmets for years I finally decided to step up to the bigs. I selected this helmet primarily for the wide viewing screen and the price, but upon receiving it it surpassed expectations. I particularly like the adjustments for darkness, delay and sensitivity since I perform all types of welding and one "size" does not fit all. Also, having a large head (hat size 81/8) the ratchet head strap was a plus. All my fellow welders are jealous, having spent much more and gotten much less. I recommend this helmet to every welder. Thanks Northern Tool."

Great for Bifocals,
March 16, 2009
By Toolie2 from South Dakota
"I have had an auto darkening helmet for years, but always had trouble seeing my work because the limited viewing area of the lens. My close-up bifocal lenses were too low for proper vision of my work. This helmet's larger viewing area works great with the bifocals. It also has enough adjustment to tailor your light conditions to the work at hand. It is a great product and worth every penny."
