great machine

"This machine worked great, I have been welding most of my life, and this was a pleasure to use. I showed my son how to use it and although it wasn't a pretty weld, it would have worked. There was no jerking or jumping of the wire feed. I highly recommend anyone with a shop own this welder. This would not be a a good pick for heavy industrial use."

Great First Welder

"I have always wanted a welder to use for small home repairs and I finally bought the 125EZ based on both these reviews and the salesman at the store. I have, in the last 6 months, made many repairs that were just sitting around waiting to be fixed. A little hint when welding material over 1/8" thick is to preheat the weld joint with a propane torch. The weld penetration was excellent using this process."

This Thing is awesome!!!

"I love my 125EZ. For around the home or basic shop this thing is great. I am currently using it to rebuild a trailer at work. I have run in to a couple of problems but they were easily fixed. The first was when first starting out I had to play with the tension on the spool to get my feed speed just right. The second was just a minute ago when I let the tip get too close to the piece I was working on at the stop point and my wire got stuck, nothing a pair of plires could't fix. Overall this was definately a good deal and I have already recommended it to the guys at work."

Absolutely Great 110 volt welder!

"I've welded for some years, and have a Miller Stick, an Oxy/Act Setup, and a Hobart HH180 (which has been flawless for many, many rolls of wire). I had lots of friend's requests for piddly little weld jobs, and I just got tired of hauling lawn furniture, lawn mowers, etc. back to my shop for a 30 second fix. I tried a 'discount" brand small arc welder, which was lightweight, but lacked the amps I needed, so I bought the 125EZ. This little (well, not little..and it weights 50 pounds!) has just about paid for itself in two weeks of odds-and-ends little jobs, and I have an Antique Shop that wants me to come by once a week to repair this-and-that,
This is an EXCELLENT welder, and I am recommending it to friends as a first machine...I tell them to keep it as they move up in power, because a 110 volt unit sure is handy!"

Good welder for the beginner

"I bought this welder just before the 2008 winter. I had no experience with welding but friends who weld said that I couldn't go wrong with the wire welders. My first project was a pickup truck rack made from black plumbing pipe. Although the pipe was kind of thick, I had to turn down this welder one notch from the highest setting so that it wouldn't burn through; it has plenty of power for welding thin metal up to fairly thick pipes for railing and racks etc. You can weld metal thicker than the 3/16" steel, but have to make more than 1 pass at it. This is a very good quality American made welder. I am very satisfied with and would indeed recommend this to a friend."

hobart handler 125

"This was my first welding purchase and experience. Wire feed was recommended to me by a friend who is a professional welder. I have used it quite often for learning and practice but only a few times for an actual job. It worked great. I have the additional gas hook up package but haven't used that yet. I want to purchase the gas bottle and cart that is advertised in your catalog. As I said, being an inexperienced welder I really can't compare this to any other welder, but it works fine for me. I have fixed a few things around the house...my wife's ironing board..the back door frame....the mailbox post...it worked great. Looking forward to the gas setup and a more clean viewing area when I weld."

Welding 101

"I was always interesed in welding, but had no one to teach me or let me learn on there welder. When I decided to purchase a welder to teach myself I did some research. I felt that the Hobat Handler 125 EZ was a good fit for me.............I was right. For a beginner, I found that the controls easy to understand and use, and not having to deal with a gas bolt was conveniet. This welder works perfect for around the house and in the garage, and now that I have some skill the 125EZ still works great."

Great Welder!

"Look at my other reviews...I don't pull my punches, this is a great welder.
I would highly reccommend this welder to the novice. I have welded all my life...I grow up on the family farm. I'm now in the city, and I needed a light welder for simple repairs and projects. This welder is very easy to use, uses a standard 110v outlet, and easily welds the gauge of steel found on lawnmowers and over consummer products. It's so easy to use that my daughters have taken up welding as a hobby."

Haven't welded in years

,

"I "volunteered" to build three sets of running gear to support 10' x 14' banners for my son's high school marching band. I purchased 1/8" mild 1x2 box steel from a local supplier then set out to purchase a welder to assemble these sleds. I first looked at a stick welder but contrary to popular belief needed 50 amp service in my garage to run it - which I did not have. After successfully returning the welder to Northern I looked at wire feed welders, having never used one before. In fact, the last time I did any welding was brazing some 1/16" box steel two summers ago with a small bottle setup. I am not a fan of buying low-priced products as most are inferior but with price a big issue this time I chose to go with the 125EZ. The following are some things that I have noticed since using the welder for the past couple of days.
Pros
I like the 115V - 20 amp service and the relatively light weight of the welder. Mounting the wire in the welding unit and not the gun keeps the weight of the gun down. Only one knob to adjust to select the thickness of the material being welded is convenient. Not having to deal with gas is a plus - and the welds are clean and strong.
Cons
The unit comes with extra welding nozzle tips and includes two .030 but not any .035. After several welds and much frustration I finally determined that the feed roller was set-up for .024 wire even though the unit comes with a roll of .030. Also, the plastic that holds the gun together broke even though I was very careful not to drop it. Thank goodness for duck tape!
Overall a very good welder at a very low price."

How I learned to weld using the 125EZ in 1 hour

,
January 8, 2007

"I started out wanting to make a wrought iron railing for my front steps. I did some research on the web and went to my friendly local welding supplier. This place had lots of welding expertise and was ready to set me up with a MIG unit for approximately $750. I would also need to buy a tank of CO2 for about $300. So, I'm out the door for about $1200, including helmets & protective clothing for my son and myself, etc. I wanted to keep the price closer to $500 and I happened upon the Hobart 125EZ. This unit needs no gas tank, is very quick to set up each time, and extremely easy to use. We bevel our joints so we get deeper weld penetration of the base metal, and the welds have proven very durable. If you are just getting into welding, this machine has worked very well for us. We decide we want to weld, go out to the garage, and are welding in 10 minutes, with no ominous tank sitting in our garage."
