I bought this generator when it first came out. I only use it at the ball parks during the summer. I run all of the team and family fans on it. In economy mode it is as quiet or more so than the Honda generators at the park. It also goes much longer on a tank of gas. It almost always starts on the first 2 to 3 pulls. For me this generator works great.
Purchased for my camper to run coffee maker and other small appliance. Had carb problems from the day it was delivered. Northern was fast to help me find a local shop to repair at no cost. The claim that it will run a 1700 watt is questionable
This is a nice quiet generator but it does not produce the power the manufacturer claims. When I take it camping it will run a coffee pot or a toaster (not both at the same time) and it runs my electric leaf blower which is 7 amps at 120 vac or 840 watts. It will NOT run my reciprocating saw which requires 10.5 amps at 120 vac or 1,260 watts, or my shop vac which I think is 15.5 amps or 1860 watts. So from what I can tell mine is putting out somewhere around 1000-1100 watts. I would have tried to return this item but I bought it because it was on sale and didn’t really start using it for anything serious for about 6 months. If you need a quiet generator to run a coffee pot at your campsite this one will do it, but anything more than that and you’ll be disappointed.
Great choice if the Honda is out of your price range, maybe even if it is not (stats are a little better than the Honda). Came with oil that was easy to add with included funnel. Started right away on second pull. Runs very quiet, no complaints here. I like the shape and stackable option, if I ever add another. It is definitely quiet. Is it really quieter than the Honda, we will see? I can't wait to put it to a head-to-head on the ice this winter against my buddy's Honda.
I've been ice fishing in Minnesota winters for over 20 years and have been around all sorts of generators but the catagory five is by far the quietest. They all boast to be reliable when my wife can go out in 20 below and start it with a few pulls and minimal effort I know I've bought a good product. The price was half of a Honda and the DBS restring was less the that of a generac
I ordered two of these units and a parallel kit. The advertizing says they will operate a 12,500 BTU RV air conditioning unit. Not true. I turn on my AC and the units immedately go into overload. This is after spending 5 weeks getting parts to repair one of the units that had a bad control board and throttle stepper motor. It never worked out of the box. This unit seems to work OK now but the other one seems to be the one that will go into overload much too easily and quickly. It won't even pull a 1500 watt microwave without going into overload. So all in all my experience with this product has been very unacceptable. I have a lot of money invested in these units and can't use them as intended or advertized.
I got two of these and use them in parallel to supply power for our fifth wheel RV. They produce good, clean power and very quiet. The only drawback is that in parallel the only can supply 3000 watts instead of the 2X the 1700 watts they produce singlely.
Was easy to unpack and add oil from premeasured container. I filled it with fuel and it started on the second pull. Runs quietly as advertised. Easy to carry. Changed the oil after 5 hours running as the manual directed. This is just a little messy job because of the location of the oil fill/drain. Overall I am very pleased with this generator.
This is a really nice generator. it was purchased as the power source for a parade float, and noise is a major consideration. we put a continuous 1kw load on it and, at sea level, it remained in the ECON mode for the 5 hours we used it for. the pull start worked as advertised, starting repeatedly with only 2 pulls. And was very quiet! only short coming is the lack of an extended run/external tank. before using it, we put a load consisting of a 1500 watt heater and a small hd tv to see how the set would carry a complex and sensitive load. Worked like a charm, no problems as monitored on a ac voltage/freq meter that was hooked up. I would highly recommend this unit!
