Top Quality Portable Generator

,

"I own a small 3,500 watt Portable Generator. Being a big fan of Northern Tool and Equipment because of their exceptional Values and quality Tool's, I decided during the Last Serious Hurricane on the East Coast to upgrade to a much more capable Portable Generator. I chose the 15000 watt North Star. This unit employes a Honda twin cylinder engine, is very portable and constructed of very high quality parts and has the power to run all the appliances in my home simultaneously. Although on backorder when ordered, it arrived in perfect condition in two weeks! I hooked it up to my Pannel after installing the battery and gassing it up, it fired up in seconds and was carreying the load with ease and at a very low noise level compared to my old 3,500 watt unit. This is a very capable Generator for home or on the job sites, I am very happy and pleased with its purchased.

Nice product / poor packing job

"The product is very nice with the exception it is a bit loud. I added fuel and oil (I choose to use 5-30 Synthetic oil) pulled the choke, turned the key, and it started without hesitation. The exhaust becomes hot very fast. Be sure to keep all combustable things far away from the exhaust. Upon delivery, I was not overly impressed. The unit was delivered in a cardboard box. It was not strapped to a pallet. The plastic bag apparently was just tossed in the generator box because it had a large hole in the bag from rubbing against the steel cage and some of the battery hardware fell out of the bag and was nearly lost. The wheel kit is okay. The handles are not that strudy. The wheels are okay, but I would suggest you ask about and negotigate and purchase a pair of Never Flat All Rubber Tires. A center lift hook would be nice, but there are ways to lift the unit without one. Caution, do not weld anything to the cage of the unit because there is the high possibility that the unit could be damaged internally due to a welding ark.
I hope to get many years of service out of this unit. I like the fact the Northern Tool has customer service at NorthStar. The folks there seem very knowledgable about this product. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product.

Powers the whole house

"I bought this generator and had an electrician set up the Transfer station for remote power to the house if we lose power. It handles the power for the entire house even the central air. The house is about 1600 SF and has no trouble."

Best Gen set I have seen

"I just bought this generator and had the transfer switch installed. Setup was easy. I was impressed with this package. It is very well made and should provide years of service. Everything about it is heavy-duty. I have tested it by switching my entire home over to it and running basically everything at the same time including the electric range (1 large burner). During the test, the engine never appeared to be working hard to carry the load. I have two other homes that I now need to have transfer switches installed. During a major power outage, I will use this generator to cover the homes that are without power. My neighbors will become my new best friends when the power goes out and they see all my lights on."
