back up generator,
October 19, 2009
By albight
from Michigan
"I put this product in service January of this year. twice I have lost power and both times it started and performed perfectly. To date a little over eight hours has been the longest duration I've been on back up. The generator handled all necessary equipment which included well water, furnace, sump pumps, and fridge/freezer and such. we even watched tv for a while before going to bed. Fuel consumption seems to be as good as stated as at the end of the eight hour run I still had fuel and might have made the ten hours stated. 79 db is loud but my neighbors did not complain and most are happy to know someone near by will have water in tough times. I have exercised this generator about every other month for 20 minutes with zero problems giving me a good feeling with the security this product gives my family."

"I purchased a 20 HP Northstar generator and I am very satisfied. I use it both for home emergancy and on the job site. It does the job and has never failed me. It's a 10500 watt run and powers all our tools or most of the house. I would definatly reccommend it without reservation."

My Power Outage Back-up,
March 23, 2009
By KeepingPlace
from Lothian, Maryland
"I purchased my NorthStar Generator in 2003 to back-up our areas service provider. We are the southern most power user on our providers grid and have always suffered lengthy delays in power restoration after storms...often 3 to 5 days and as long as 8 days. This generator has performed without flaw for five years - providing all of the power we need to comfortably accomodate our 4,600 sf home/farm. I've recommended it to neighbors and now four of them have their own back-up NS generators. The Honda engine, electric start and low oil shut-off were key to my purchase and subsequent useage. I can't emphasize how very important it is to turn off the fuel flow when not in use as a neighbor forgot to do this and we had to scramble to help him out during a storm. I usually check the battery charge level 3-4 times a year and have never had to replace it . It has served us without fail through frigid winter snow and/or ice storms and in summer hurricanes. I wouldn't be without it. An excellent machine and a very wise purchase."

Powerful Generator,
November 17, 2008
By chrome
from South East Texas
"I have used this generator now for 3yrs with no problems. We have had several extended power outages on the coast and I'm glad I had it. It has run for extended periods of 8 to 12 hrs. I use my tractor to move it . A wheel kit is a must if you plan on moving it around alot, it's heavy. It has plenty of options for outlets. It uses heavy circuit breakers not the cheap push button type.
It doesn't come with an hour meter, wheels, or a battery. A key start generator should come with a battery. The ownly reason I didn't give it five stars.

"This unit with the Honda engine is a super deal. Power and performance. If it only had an hour meter and a voltage output gauge, it would be perfect. At high load, I would like to know if I was getting into a low voltage situation."

"An excellent value for what you are getting. I have purchased several different generators over the years. It's very hard to beat the engine, generator, and package quality. I recomend NorthStar generators and power washers to anybody with high quality, heavy duty demands that wants a product that will last."

Great, dependable generator,
April 21, 2008
By terrapin
from Moncure, NC
"This is a great generator. I have owned it for several years as a backup household generator and have had nothing but good luck with it. Although you may need to charge the battery occassionally with a trickle charger, it has always been a reliable starting and running machine. Has sufficient power to run most everything in the typical household."

Great Generator,
April 21, 2008
By GrantsPassHomeOwner
from Grants Pass, OR
"I use this to run my house during electrical outages. Starts 1st time every time. It is heavy to move around, but I"m only 5'1, middle aged woman and I can get it out of the garage and around the side of the house to connect. Has longer run time than others I looked at. It is loud, but from inside the house it doesn't bother me. I also added an kit to use propane. Great value!"
