"Great generator, I can power my entire house with this unit, but I can not run my Miller 185 mig welder. The only thing is I have to push the generator to the back fence of me yard because it is so loud. The reason I gave it 4 stars is only because of how loud it is. It is so loud I wear ear protection when turning it on and off."

"Although I initially wanted to buy the NorthStar diesel generator with the Yanmar engine, the people I bank with had an issue with me charging so much at one time. Anyway, after scouring the Internet and reading numerous reviews on this generator and the Chinese manufacturing company, I decided to buy this model.
This generator is a brute. It is heavy and tough, but seems to be well-made. I have run it twice as I break it in, and have had no issues (except those of my own making). I charged the battery that came with it (sealed WITH electrolyte) for two days prior to getting around to running it. You may have to read the manual a couple of times to get the gist of what the instructions are telling you, but anyone with a modicum of mechanical know how will understand. The motor started with two tries the first time I ran it, and with one try the second time - amazing. Of course a compression release doesn't hurt.
Unlike most generators, the generator can be controlled separately from the motor. What I mean by that is there is a main breaker that controls output voltage from the generator. When it is open (off) there is no electrical output. Also, you must select whether you want 120VAC or 240VAC output - you can't have both at the same time.
The Chinese manufacturer has a solid reputation for producing quality products (most reviews I read found most fault with All Power America for not supporting this generator like they should with the proper service infrasturucture or customer service).
So far after two, one hour runs under increasing loads I am satisfied with this generator. It appears to be made well and all fasteners are tight. Vibration is minimal for a diesel motor, and the exhaust note is not that bad (you should still wear hearing protection).
The only issues are these: the fuel filter is inside the fuel tank and must be fished out when replacement is due; the fuel shut-off valve is poorly located under sheet metal and directly below the fuel tank; you must choose between either 120VAC or 240VAC output since both are not available simultaneously.
Overall, and for the price, this generator is very good. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a tough little generator at a good price."

"This unit has been used several times at our home in Maine. Power outages are common here and the diesel unit has been far superior to our old gas unit. It starts right up and runs for hours on a tank of fuel. Handles all our needs and we were very pleased to have it last winter season. We expect to have this unit take care of us for many years to come and we highly recommend it."

"We have used this generator to power up an IT department in a small business while we were without power for 3 days. The generator is a real workhorse, and being diesel it seemed more efficient than our last gasoline generator that was retired to lighting a pole building. We also used this generator when building our garage and it had no problems running a whole slew of tools all at the same time. Very stable, load balancing worked very well. It is heavy so if you expect to pick this in and out of a truck every day you might want to get some ramps, but if you are just wheeling it around you should be fine. Highly recommended, worth the extra $$ if you intend to use it frequently or have power outage problems over gas."

"this is a fantastic generator i have used it to power my travel trailer when i have been i places where there is no power it doesnt even hardly even raise up in throttle when my a/c kicks on never a bit of trouble"
