"I bought the first grinder because the "professional" grade grinder my father gave me a couple of years prior burned up. I was always cleaning out the fascia, tendons, etc. because they plugged up the plate. It was a pain to wash, take apart, and was quite slow. Honestly, I bought this one because it was cheap and I was low on funds. I was amazed at how well it worked. And how fast. I have worked in a number of commercial kitchens in the past. This little baby will keep up with most of the larger units. And I used an old dryer motor I salvaged. My ex-wife sold mine before I had a chance to rescue it from our house. Now that I am free from her, I am buying another one. Our group usually processes between 15 and 25 antelope and between 5 and 15 deer a year and occaisional elk. This is the best unit in my opinion. Especially for the cost. Don't let the few bad comments at the top stop you if you want to grind meat."

Excellent Grinder,

"This Grinder is the best! I made sausage with it and the grinder worked flawlessly. It also stuffed first class polish sausage. I had a problem with the original thrust bearing, but the parts department made good on a replacement even though it was out of warrenty. I just can't say enough about Northern Industrial Tools customer service. I must warn all that this is a dangerous machine. Espically if you were to get your hands into the hopper when it is moving (get a pusher and saftey hopper). Also It would be advisable to build a belt guard so you don't get your fingers in there. I had an old 1/8 hp electric motor on it, and it would stall the motor, I now have a 1/2 hp, but I think anything over 1/4 hp would do. This grinder is a bargin as long as you use safety precautions Also stuffer and grinder parts can easily be obtained for this fine #32 grinder. 5 STARS INDEED!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"After useing my brothers grinder to process deer, I just had to order my own. I can say that this is an exceptional grinder for the price anywhere. With the addition of an electric motor, thanks to the added feature of a v belt pulley, I can grind up pounds of venison on my own in very little time. I would recommend this product to any of my friends."

"I bought this grinder because using the old hand crank grinder was a waste of time and effort. I mounted this grinder to a board and bolted down an electric motor I had, mounted a regular household lightswitch to it and it works great! It's kind of heavy because the board I used is a 2 X 10 X 24. I cut a U shape in the board so the hamburger could fall down into the bowl in the sink. The motor I used is a 3/4 HP, but that is overkill, I just had this one on the shelf. I now have 3 or 4 families bringing their grind meat to me. I grind & they wrap. Can't keep up with this thing!!"

"I purchased this grinder to help make sausage which it does quickly and effortlessly. Initially I used the large pulley and belt setup but because It took a lot of room I changed to a flexible coupling and a gear head motor. It works great and saves storage space."

"This is a more than adequate grinder for my meat processing needs. I have used smaller units in the past but have found limitations. This unit will handle the larger volumns of without needing to tear down and clean out the cutting blade. The unit is realitively easy to clean out. I would recomend this unit to anyone processing wild game/beef."

Great Grinder,
January 19, 2008
By versavolt

"I bought the grinder to process about 100# of deer meat. It did a great job. The grinder never bogged down or needed cleaning bettween pans. I was always cleaning the small grinder I have because of tendons and stuff like that getting wrapped around the blade. Not this one though. I have a 1720 RPM motor with a 1 1/2 inch belt sheeve and the grinder has a 13 inch belt sheeve so I figure the grinder is turning around 300 RPM's. The whole deal was easy to clean and I would reccommend this unit to anyone. I am looking forward to using in the fall to grind a 300#-400# pig for sausage for the hunt club. If all goes well we will spend much more time getting the meat ready for the grinder and wrapping it afterwards than we ever will actually grinding the meat."

"This meat grinder is great. We are not using it for intended purposes, though. We attached a small motor to the wheel and are grinding corn and beans for our farm animals. And I haven't broken it yet. It's a high quality product, and I am sure if it works this good at grinding our feed, it works even better as a meat grinder."

Best grinder for your money,
November 28, 2007

"Amazing!!! I have never been more impressed with a product that costs so little. I had a similar grinder that i used for years to process deer and pigs. Normally it would take hours to grind 100+ pounds of sausage from a pig. I have used up a few heavy duty drills in the past with the previous grinder. Since i purchased this grinder i hooked up an old 1/2 horsepower table saw motor with a 1 1/2 inch pulley and a v-belt. Then i connected it to a homemade steel frame which can adjust for easy removal and clean-up. The math worked out to about 300 RPM which works perfect. Two weeks ago we did our traditional 2 pigs and were done with 150 pounds of sausage in 30 minutes. This past week the hunting gods were good to me and i ground 50 pounds of deer burger in 10 minutes. The grinder never clogged, bogged down or slowed with pieces as large as a 10 ounce steak. Since this is such a time saver my hunting partner and i have more time for stories and spirits after the dirty work is done. I would recommend this to anyone doing home food processing. All you need is the right motor and it will do the work for you. I found the motor at a local pawn shop for $10 and they had several others. I hope you enjoy this product as much as i do."

"I originally purchased one of Northerns small electric grinders. It worked for only a few minutes before it self destructed. They made it good with no questions so I purchased this one. It came with no instructions on what size motor was required or what speed it need to run. Some simple math told me that a 1725 rpm motor was probably a little fast, but that is what I had so I gave it a try. I used a 1/2 HP 1725 motor. It will grind meat as fast as you can throw it in. It was so fast that we timed a pan of wild hog weighing 12 lbs. It took all of 35 seconds. We have wild pigs on our place so we decided to make the best of it and started making our own sausage. After cuting up a pig weighing 200- 250 lbs, you can grind the whole thing in less that 5 minutes. Fat seems to slow it a little but this thing grinds at an incredible rate."

Meat Grinder,
October 15, 2007
By Terry12

"This an excellent value for anyone doing processing at home. It performs well and is easy to break down for cleaning. We built a square tubing frame and used a 3/4 HP surplus motor with a 1 1/2 inch pulley to drive the grinder. It will grind up venison and sheep trimmings about as fast as we can feed them into it. Lube the oriface plate, blade, barrel, and thrust bearing with cooking oil before using to greatly extend the life of these parts. Dry starts are not good for any equipment where metal to metal contact is possible. I wish I had found this unit years ago as we have caused the smoke to leak out of several brands of small (mostly plastic) electric grinders. Best regards, Terry"
