"I had a portable generator for a few years. I wanted to upgrade to something that would power most of my house, but didn't want to deal with gasoline. Also, I don't have piped in natural gas. So, I liked the idea of this unit that has 7,000 watts and runs on standard 20# propane tanks. You can also connect this to piped in natural gas or large propane tanks if you have that.
The unit seems to be very good quality for the price. It has a pad attached, and a nice weatherproof exterior housing that is insulated. The engine seems to be good quality. Also, some nice extras like battery starter, oil filter, and large muffler.
It also has a small footprint. Only 24" x 30". And the height is about 28". So, you get a lot of power in a small box compared to those large rectangular whole house units you are use to seeing. Also, the unit looks like an A/C compressor or swimming pool heat pump. So, it blends in nicely. Most people would not even know it is a generator. This is good, because I live in a homeowner's association community that would have a problem with something that stood out like an obvious generator. This unit looks like it is part of the original home construction. No one even knows it is a generator until I point it out to them.
Everything is ready to go out of the box, it even is factory filled with oil. All you need to buy is a couple of standard propane tanks available anywhere. You can start using it immediately with regular extension cords, or upgrade later to a manual transfer switch. I installed the recommended 32702 transfer switch.
Also, the delivery company was great. The product was delivered in about a week and a half. They set up a convienent time that worked with my schedule. The delivery company unloaded the product and put it exactly where I wanted. I didn't have to move anything or break a sweat. Great service.
The propane generator seems to be a bit quieter than gasoline.
I am very happy with the product, and would recommend it to anyone."
