"This product works well. So far I have reversed the hammers once which does take some time for the dissasembly/reassembly. The hammers are easily made from steel in a home shop.
I have replaced the wear plate on chipper once. If the log vibrates profusely when you put it in, then it is time to adjust the wear plate for proper gap. If too large a gap, you get large vibrations. I have manufactured new wear plates easily from the original. I use a mill to get it to size but it can be done without machine tools if need be.
I would definitely use hearing, dust, and full face protection as the discharge is very high velocity, noisy and dusty
When in use, the chipping had to be stopped regularly if working alone and mulching a lot. The mulch which is not thrown out the chute will accumulate under the unit and ultimately stall it out if not cleared. I usually use another person who is standing by to the side with a small garden rake which fits under the unit and clears the mulch from underneath.
I am currently planning to skid mount the chipper in front of my 3-53 detroit diesel engine which has a hand clutch; that way my pto on tractor is available for other uses and I can transport the skid mount with my forklift anywhere it is needed.
The bar screen included with my unit chipped into coarser mulch than I wanted, so I purchased a 1in dia perforated screen from Merry Mac and that produced the finer mulch I wanted."

"Great product - use on a 30 hp diesel tractor and is very good unit. Chips a 3- 3.5" stick with no problems. Highly recommend..."
