"I have a total of 4 of these. The locking gate is simple and straightforward, just twist and open. It locks at both ends of the gate for added safety. I use these in tree climbing work, and they are wonderful. I have seen carabiners on other sites for more money. Petzl offers some with a "Push Button" mechanism to open the gate, which if using gloves would be hard to do. After a trip to my local Outdoor Gear provider, and testing out several different carabiners, I found this to be the best overall choice. It is steel, so a little heavier than some other gear, but the price more than makes up the difference. It is strong, and well made. I would hightly recommend this piece of equipment!"
