Magic from Magic Heat,
March 9, 2007
By LL123
from Bristol, RI.
"I started using the Magic Heat which I purchased from Northern some time ago on my wood stove at home. I found it to be a good reliable device which allowed me to recover heat that otherwise would have gone up the chimney.
Since that time I have recommended the unit to several other friends who had observed mine in operation. Their purchases resulted in savings and greater comfort for them as well.
All in all the Magic Heat has been a device which has proved over time to be a very good investment which I would highly recommend to anyone trying to maximize their heating efficiency.

Got Heat?,
March 7, 2007
By UpNorth
from Northern NH
"Recently I purchased the Magic Heat Reclaimer and added it to the operation of my wood stove. Prior to adding the Magic Heat Recaimer My wood stove would perform to a lower than average heat output. Constantly having to stoke the wood stove, allowing the wood to burn at faster and hotter temps in order to get more heat from it. Then I installed the Magic Heat Reclaimer! Now my wood stove has become vitually the primary heating source for my home. I am able to run the stove with a longer & lower burn, recapturing the heat that would normally be lost. This has added many BTU to the stove. The Magic Reclaimer is the best money I ever spend!!!"

Magic Heat--Best idea since swamp coolers!,
November 16, 2006
By Daniel
from Pine, CO
"Wonderful product. Easy to install, but poor support from manufacturer.
Once installed, I was AMAZED at how well this thing works. I am re-couping a great deal of lost heat and at the same time, the fan forces that heat out into the room, etc. I find I am using 75% less wood as I do not need to keep the stove blazing hot to radiate--Magic heat does this. Once at temp. a relatively small burn will keep the tubes plenty hot. As a result, I do not have a "hot spot" in the room where the stove is--the room heats up evenly and then seems to stay relatively stable. The Magic Heat fan itself turns on and off based on on preset tube temperature, though one can turn the fan on manually--say for Summer cooling use, or whatever.
Only recommendation I would make is to plug Magic Heat into an outlet controlled by a light dimmer. I did this by making a box with a pig-tale which plugs into the wall. In the box is a dimmer and a plug. This is important to me as the Magic Heat fan is MORE than adequate. I find that it is more comfortable and less noisy (~~75% of fan noise is created in the last ~~10% of top fan speed with any fan) to turn the fan down to about 60% of its capability. This is a modification which the manufacturer suggested, so if its done safely, its kosher. If making one of these is not in your game plan, and you want one, write me and I will make one up and sell it to you.
The product seems to be made well and is easy enough to clean--looks like it belongs, does not take up much space and has powered our heating bill substantially. The fact that I am using MUCH less wood, is a big plus for my back. Since the unit is completely sealed, ALL smoke goes up the pipe and none escapes into the house. About the only requirement which is not explicitly stated in their advertising is that, for best performance, the unit should be mounted no less than 12" off of the stove.
I do not work for these folks, I just happen to live in the CO mountains, where it gets cold. I REALLY like it when I can order a product and it works better than expectation. For me, that is a rarity, and it is for this reason that I so highly recommend this unit. Why waste heat when a fan is SO cheap to run?!?
Dan"

Buyer Beware,
November 2, 2009
By dfegs

"Installation of this product restricted draft significantly. Carbon Monoxide detector routinely activated any time the woodstove was not fully opened and running hot. The number of times we "opened the doors" could not be counted. We definately burned wood faster keeping the draft up. Produced lots of heat but not worth the headaches. Removed after 1 season."

"Great product! Can't believe I waited this long to give this thing a try...............I love it....especially how soon after starting a fire it's producing heat before the whole stove heats up. I have a 30' x 40' great room where it's being used. Looks like it's going to save me a ton a wood and keep things much warmer."

"I have used this heat reclaimer in my basement on a wood burning stove for two seasons already and it
really pumps out the heat. The basement is noticeably warmer when it is turned on. It is easily maintained with
its plunger rod. I leave it on all the time as it automatically cycles on and off with the heat. | highly recommend it.

"Attached my Magic Heat Reclaimer to my coal/wood stove in my very cold, drafty garage. What a difference!!! The unit works incredible, and essentially makes me able to work all day and night without heavy clothing or jackets. Probably one of the best things I ever purchased due to it's reliability and ease of install."

Good Product,But how?,

By sodaklion

"I purchased this product and I am very impressed. I use wood to heat my house, and before I always had a cold kitchen and bedroom now with this it keeps all the rooms warm. I also use less wood. This is my first season and my only question is how to clean out the unit without taking it all apart. A very good product.

It Rocks,
October 26, 2009
By Jimmyquick7777
from Pasadena, Maryland
"Just got the reclaimer connected and fired the wood stove up. As the unit reached the set temperature, she started blowing heated air into the room which amazed my wife and I. I couldn't believe the amount of heat we were losing up the stack which now fills our living room. If you burn wood, it's a no brainer. Getting a second one for our cabin in W. Virginia. You can't go wrong. A little loud (fan), but can deal with that for the amount of heat this baby puts out."

Works great on Hi Efficiency Oil Burner,
October 11, 2009
By RICKEY1
from Wilton, CT
"Added Magic Heat last year to our Hi Efficiency Utica StarFire III boiler. My basement is now much warmer and drier. With the indirect water heater the boiler fires briefly in the warmer months and this heater has reduced the need for dehumidifiers.
NOTE THAT THE UNIT IS QUITE TALL AND MOST OIL BOILERS DON'T HAVE ENOUGH INTERNAL FLUE LENGTH TO MAKE A PAIN FREE INSTALLATION. I had to put a new flue pipe into the masonry chimney about four feet up. It was worth the work."

very good,
July 23, 2009

"i installed the majoc heat, which was pretty easy for a novice.
i started up a fire and it worked beautifully. i used to have the potbelly stove cranking red hot to heat up the basement and part of the first floor. (i even tried putting fans to have the stove heat up more of the house) the majic heat does that for me. i burn a lot less wood (about 1 cord less) and at a lower temp.
i love that the fan goes on and off by the thermastat.
i have roccomended it to other people and found that it is more popular than i ever thought.

Not completely satisfied,
March 23, 2009
By JayTeeWNY
from Western New York
"The Magic heat works great except.... thermostatically the fan is always on. Sometimes my wife needs absolute quietness and we no longer have the option of operating the stove quietly. When the flue temp gets up to operating temp, the fan kicks on. The only way to silence the appliance is to disassemble the unit and remove the fan and wiring. I have tried wiring a dimmer switch through an extension cord but the fan operates eradically. Once the dimmer is turned down (even slightly), the fan surges. Personally I am impressed with the additional heat we are getting from our stove. I even rotated the unit 90 degrees to blow heat into an adjacent room that usually isn't directly in line with the front fan vents on the stove itself. I think this unit will help imensly next winter when we get into the 0 and below weather here in the snowbelt of western New York."

Magic Heat Reclaimer Model # MH-6-R,
March 16, 2009
By Jsm1821
from East Lansing, MI
"This ingenious unit combine common sense with practicality. The unit fits above your stove, where the air tubes are heated from the stove exhaust and a fan circulates room air through the air tubes.
With a quick check of the installation instructions you will find the Magic Heat Reclaimer is easy to install. No special tools were required.
The product would be improved if a stack thermometer was included and optimal stack heat identified. This would insure less soot deposit on the air tubes and better heating. Another minor improvement would be to provide an adjustable fan switch to control air flow.
Overall, the heat reclaimed far outweighs the cost of the Magic Heat Reclaimer."

Great device,
March 13, 2009
By Scooot
from North West NJ
"As mentioned by others, this is a great product. I feel it is priced very well because of its construction, its thermost controlled fan and its ease of installation. I did put a dimmer on it as mentioned by another person. It does quiet it down. It is amazing to feel the heat come out that would normally be wasted up the chimney. I do wonder if you could install one above the other, but that would make cleaning difficult without pulling it all back apart. FYI, some people have said the crimped end should be on top, but as I have been told, you want the crimps down so the build up will go into the stove and not on the outside of the pipe - crimp down is the correct way to run the piping."

Great Heat,
December 23, 2008
By HeatReclaimer
from Graham, North Carolina
"I purchased the heat reclaimer in the beginning of the winter in 2008, Works great without a blower on the stove, and even better with a blower on the stove. Have had some pretty cold nights in NC in the 20's, without it the stove will heat to around 65, with it will heat upwards of 75. It is amazing what only 100 CFM will do and also the heat that is wasted going out the chimney. With the thremostat on you can start your fire and live it alone and when the temp. raises in the chimney it will auto. come on. Great Product for the $$$$.
I heat a 24x40 shop 960 Heated Square Feet."
