"My intention was to use this as a temporary heating solution during a power outage since my home is Electric. My area is generally the last to be restored after an outage... up to 15 days.
With some trial/error and advice from local hardware stores, I was finally able to plumb this in a manner to accomodate a temporary/emergency use situation. Did take some time, but finally got it.
I like this product so much that I'm using it semi-regularly thru my temporary setup scenario. Easily keeps the main dining/kitchen/living at 70 on medium setting. Keeps the rest of the upper level of my house at 62-65 on medium - perfect for a temporary situation. Overall, it is covering about 1000 sq ft.
The downside is that it uses a bit more propane than I expected, but still cheaper than electric. Some of the rivets were broken on arrival. I compensated with sheet metal screws. And, I did have the thermostat assembly fall apart within the first month. Was able to fix with my own hardware for about 50 cents.
If you have to use a few adapters to plumb the unit, the optional base feet won't provide enough clearance.
Overall, great product and I would recommend with the above caveats. I'm terrified of propane, but feel comfortable with this unit! And, that's saying a lot since I plumbed it myself! I've even purchased several of the lower BTU units for use downstairs."
