Can't believe I didn't do this sooner

"About every 2 or 3 years the power goes out at my house. I live in an older neighborhood where the power lines are above ground and in the wilnter when the ice storms come....the electricity goes off....sometimes for several days. I purchased this stove to supplement my portable generator. I run the gen during the day when I need everything but at night when I only need to keep warm and keep the pipes from freezing this stove is perfect. I have an electric range in my kitchen but there was also a natural gas pipe behind the range. I connected to the pipe. It literally took longer to read the directions than to set up the stove. It works great! Natural gas is sure a lot cheaper than the gasoline for the generator!
I should have done this years ago.

This heater has been a godsend

,
April 23, 2013

"I purchased this heater for the house. Due to medical conditions, my elderly parent was unable to go to the heated upstairs, but had to rely on unheated (for the most part) downstairs part of the house. We had a fire place insert, but it was not adequate. Again, due to medical issues, she was always cold--until I bought this heater! This has worked fantastic for two years, and I would buy another in a heartbeat. We are running it about 2 on a scale of 5 and it does a great job. This has enhanced the quality of her life by a great deal. She is no longer cold all the time. The fire place would work, but it difficult to regulate, and also requires constant attendance. This unit, once set requires very little attention. Vacuum any accumulated dust occasionally and you are good to go. The only thing to be aware of is that a professional is probably required to run the propane line to the heater. The tank should always be outside the structure. I installed a CO monitor, and it has never gone off even once, no matter how cold and how long the unit runs. It is very efficient and operates with no odor, condensation, or other issues. Buy this heater with confidence. I would imagine the smaller ones for smaller spaces would be the same in their operation and trouble free nature. I consider this a "long term" review, having lived with the unit for a couple of years. I have been well pleased and can think of no way to improve the performance. I did purchase the optional fan, and it helps a lot to distribute the heat quickly and efficiently."

Great heater... beware of the fan

,
December 3, 2012

"I am very impressed with the amount of heat this unit puts out. It is fairly quiet, and looks good, too. The fan is a must, HOWEVER.... the blower unit that was sent to me does not function on the "auto" mode. I have to keep it on "manual", which means it is running constantly. I called Pro Com and it turns out that I have to pull the fan out, take off the brackets, and put star washers on. Of course, they don't have them and can't send them, thus I have to go shopping.
Other than that, I would highly reccommend this product.

"got this for the family room in my basement- it keeps us all toasty warm in the winter months. It is cool that it works with natural gas but also works with propane. would buy it again. low maintainence and cleaning. only thing out of the box it was lacking is a small fan to move the heat around. (I use a ceiling fan to get the same results)"

"We installed one of these in our hunting camp to replace a regular propane furnace. Not only does it do a better job of heating the camp but it also uses a whole lot less propane gas to accomplish it. At most, we turn it to the number 2 setting, but most of the time it stays on number 1. Any higher than 2 and it will roast us out of camp."

My Garage Heater

October 15, 2012
By Shelbian

"I put this heater in my garage, (30' x 20') which is insulated. I keep it set at a constant 55 deg. F. and when I am working in the garage I raise it to about 65 deg. F. It does a great job, heats quickly and maintains temp. excellently at a very low cost to me. I don't notice any difference in my bill from the previous years. I am very HAPPY with this product. Remember I live in iowa, we have cold winters here."

"We live way out in the country and have frequent power outages. In the Ice storms two years ago power was off for two weeks and no power equals no central heat!!
We bought this last year with the feet and It's our main heater in our 1925 home it's a two story farm house about 1300 sq. foot home and this stove kept it toasty all winter with out the worry of a power failure.the only issue Ive had is the ignighter button is a little hard to push and takes several pushes to get it to spark to light it but all in all its not bad."

Work Shop Heater

"I have one of these in my Workshop in Va., the shop is about 750 sq. ft. It is insulated but has two 9' garage doors that let out a lot of heat. This heater easily keeps it in the 70's, but with a group of people and a little cooking it will get in the 80's! Great haeater for the money!!! Quick clean heat!"

"I bought the ProCom Blue Flame Vent-Free Wall Heater to back-up my regular hot water oil fired furnace in extreme cold weather. As you all know Pennsylvania winter weather can get severely cold and windy in the winter months. I use this heater to keep my furnace from running constantly. I set the thermostat to a temperature just above the furnaces cut in temperature. This keeps the house temperature at the set temperature on the thermostat and does not cost much to operate as you get 99% return on heat with this type of heater. Grate back-up heat supply."

"Works great in my small 500 sq. ft, welding shop. Keeps the shop warm (Wisconsin winters) and vent free is a huge plus. Installation was very easy. I've been using the heater for 2 years with no problems. Didn't give 5 star rating due multiple tries required to get pilot started. Overall very satisfied."

Good Heater, poor support

,
May 8, 2012
By Capt4503
from North Idaho
"I Installed 2 of these heaters recently. One install went without a hitch but the other was not so good. The problem child has an issue with lighting the burner. The igniter looks to have been welded in the incorrect position and is too far away from the ignition point. Once the pilot light is lit and the dial turned to the desired setting the burner will not fire. The gas seems to fill the chamber and then a large WOOF as the gas finally reached the pilot light. I contacted support to see if there was a way to reposition the igniter but no response after multiple messages and two weeks. I’m a little disappointed in their lack of customer service. Buyer beware if you have issues."

Saving big!

,
May 7, 2012

"Due to Storm Irene, needed new furnance. These units have paid for themselves five times over in the first three months of use compared to my 20+ years old furnance and the heat is so much warmer. I had no problem installing these units either, I was done within 30 minutes. I did purchase the blower motors to go with the unit. It does heat the whole home better and much more efficiently in the amount of propane and electricity used. The amount of savings from these units already, makes me wish I had purchased them sooner. Totally awesome product :)"

shop heater

"My old, antique Reznor furnace died.... I needed heat in a hurry but it's been a slow winter and money is a bit tight, so I bought this one to get by/....... Well, it's far better heat and way more efficient then my furnace was!!!!!
I have an 800 sq. ft. shop that I build Hot Rods in and I like to be warm when I build. My shop is insulated but does have a few air leaks. With this heater on natural gas I keep the shop at about 50 degrees overnight, and 70 degrees when I'm working. The thermostat setting is from 1 to 5, haven't had it above 3 yet, and that got the shop up to 80 degrees!!!!
Looks like my "temporary heater" has become my permanent heater. I did get the small fan that goes with it, circulates the air just like it's supposed to. I also have a 10" ceiling mounted and between the two they do an excellent job of keeping a uniform temperature all over the shop."

Pro Com Blue Flame

,
January 17, 2012
By Onti
from New Mexico
"I intitially purchased one of these propane heaters for my living room where a propane (worthless) fireplace had been. It was easy to install and it keeps the living room comfortable. I realize it is not meant to be the primary heating source, but it works well enough to prevent my noisy furnace from constantly kicking on. I have two bedrooms in my single level house that are not being used, so I closed the doors to them and this heater keeps the occupied rooms of my 1700 square foot home comfy. I live in a village in the mountains with the altitude of 6900 feet. I recently purchased another one of these to supplant the infrared heater an elderly neighbor had in her house. She was quite pleased with the environment heating the blue flame heater provided as opposed to having to sit in front of her infrared propane heater to stay warm. She now has one infrared and one blue flame in her house. They work great together. The only complaint I have is that over the 2 months I have had this heater, when it starts up the combustion is louder and more intense. I also appreciate the moisture in the house as opposed to dry air which in the past gave me sinus problems. On occasion when there is too much moisture in the house I turn it off and use the furnace as an anti moisture remedy."

Easy To Do

,
January 17, 2012

"I received the box in good shape. The heater was just as advertised and installed with no trouble. I was replacing a heater in my shop and thought I might have to change the orifice for natural gas, but not. It comes with separate ports so I just connected to the natural gas port. Heater went on sale after I purchased it and Northern Tool refunded the difference. Can't complain about that. Heater is working great."

Awesome Procom heater

,
January 16, 2012
By killian44
from Reno NV.
"This has been a very nice addition to our heaters at home. We have a Procom radiant as well that we use in the house and the blue flame in the connected garage that also has a spare bedroom. The blue flame does a great job of keeping it warm and toasty for sure and the built in thermostat is very nice as well. I like radiant better because you can feel the warmth, so does out cats the worship the darn thing. With the blue flame we have to use a fan on low to help keep the temp even and the built in blower is a bit to noisy for me, plus the small fan can wave back and forth and is easier to clean. The directions say you need to hook it up to a big tank. I feed ours from a medium sized 20lb. bottle set on a stool with regulator and the heater is on a 4 wheel dolly. The bottle lasts for about a week or better. We live in the Northern NV. area and as anybody knows it gets cold at night which can be single digits.
Hope this helps and Thank you.
