"This compact heater is amazing !! I puchased the Ouellet model# OCH4000WB with a specific use in mind and it"s performance has far exceeded my expectations !! I use my 2 1/2 car garage as a winetr playroom in pennsylvania with a pool table and ping-pong table and more expensive space heaters from your local Big-Chain stores just did'nt cut it ! This one allowed us to play in t-shirts this frigid winter without a big increase in my electric bill !! Kudos to Northern Tool for carrying THE BEST AS ALWAYS !!"

WOW ITS LOUD,
December 1, 2008
By plowzilla
from Bartlett, IL
"I ordered the unit for my attached garage. After I plugged it in the fan balde stuck to the inside metal. After a few jabs with a screw driver, I got it to run. It is way to loud for my garage. The cheaply designed cage rattles like a snake. If you are looking for strickly heat, it does heat nicely according to its wattage. That is the only reason I gave it two stars instead of one. Not recommended for attached garages."

By BigBug

"It runs well, heats a 20x28 garage just fine here in KS. Good airflow and not to loud. It had some shipping damage and NT offered to send another one. I wanted to be warm sooner than later so I fixed it and it has worked well."

Small,

"I purchsed this heater under the impression that it would heat my 24 x 30 insulated garage. After a good snow I plugged it in for 5 hours and had no results at warming up anything. Maybe it would work on something smaller."

Ouellet HD electric garage heater,
January 15, 2008
By FrankB
from New Mexico
"The Ouellet heavey duty garage workshop heater is well made. I was actually surprized at the quality as I expected it to be made in China. It's not, it's made in Canada. The unit was very easy to intall, just 2 screws and plug it in. I did have to change the outlet in my garage to accomodate the plug but that was easy. The thermostat works well and cycles the unit off and on and kept the temperature comfortable."

Great little heater at a reasonable price,
January 15, 2008
By eftey
from Southern California
"I'm using this heater in my two-car garage/shop. Heats up the 500+ square feet in just a few minutes. Very simple design, very solidly built -- much better than the $40 dollar cheapies you can get at the local hardware/discount center. Makes a bit more noise than I would like, but I can live with that. I expect this little unit will outlive me (I am 64). Note: It requires a 220V power source."

good heater,
January 15, 2008
By Max123
from Norfolk,VA
"I purchased this heater for my 20x20 garage. The ceiling was insulated, but not the 3 exterior walls. The heater works very well at keeping the garage warm, the fan is a little noisy, I haven’t checked it yet to see if I could make it quieter. The built in thermostat does a good job.
All and all I am very satisfied with the heater. I purchased this on sale and it is worth the price compared to the top of the line heaters.

Lukewarm air,
January 15, 2008
By timberfrog
from Boston, MA
"I tried 2 of these in my garage and both produced only lukewarm air when I placed my hand against the metal cage. I let them run for an hour hoping that they would eventually heat up, but to no avail. There ia a big heater coil and a big fan, but no heat."

Ouellet Electric Garage/Worksh Model# OCH4000WB,
January 14, 2008
By Rambohunter
from St. Bernard,LA
"5 stars for it's intended use. Although the heater blown air does not "feel" hot, it does heat a 10x30 trailer area quite fast. Guessing the fast moving fan blowing air across the element does not make a little hot air, just plenty of warm air. It is a bit loud for a living space, but it'll work great for a garage/workshop. I'll still use it to heat my hunting trailer initially and then let the smaller electric heaters take over after quickly being warmed by the Oullet heater. I had to dissassemble unit to place the stainless steel heating coil back in it's holder (easy task). I do wish the supplied mount was smaller for use with low height ceilings, but it may be part of design for safety."

Good heater at a good price,
January 7, 2008
By yager
from Raleigh, NC
"Nice compact heater, Per Sticker Unit draws ~16.5 amps. Unit uses STANDARD NEMA 6-20 plug (220v), outlet/socket is readily available at most HW stores. Heats my insulated 500sq/ft garage with ease, even when its 15deg outside. Fan is a bit noisy but it gets the job done."

It Works !,
January 13, 2007
By Lenord123
from Texas
"I bought this to heat my garage shop. With the outdoor temp at freezing, this heater will easily warm the shop to 78 degrees. The attic and garage door are both insulated, but 2 of the walls are not.
The heater was delivered in a week. No damage from UPS.
The plug is not typical, so an new plug had to be installed.
I does make a little more noise than I would like, it sounds like a medium sized box fan. It does blow the warm air fairly far across the shop because this fan is more powerul than one might tend to think at first glance.
The element does get hot, so hot that you can't leave your hand in front of it for long. It is not like the 110 volt/1500 watt heater I have though. The fan blows over the heating element and cools the outer portions of it off. The element is a flat spiral. The old heater seemed to get hotter, but did not have as powerful of a fan on it.
It does have a simple thermostat on the back. It will cycle on and off while I'm working, no need to attend to it.
Fit and finish are excellent. No loose parts, dents or chipped paint
Overall a great buy for the price !"

Quite adequate,
December 10, 2006
By Maz1
from Baltimore, MD
"To heat my newly built 320 square foot storage shop I considered both gas and electric heaters. The initial set-up for a gas hook-up was quite expensive. After considering each alternative, I purchased this heater and have been pleased since its installation. I have it set on the lowest possible setting and it maintains a the building at 50 degrees. So far this winter, the outside temperature has dipped to 17 degress and the shop temperature was maintained at 50. The built-in thermostat is a nice feature."

do not buy this heater unless you want to freeze!,
November 18, 2006

"This heater is just a fan with a little warm air I was hoping the electrician that inslalled it did it wrong but another electrician saw the installation and he said it was correct, I have a 1500 watts heater and it is much more powerfull than this one, I called the manufacter and they told me " it is like you but both hands in your mouth and exhale warm air", but it this heater is powerfull."
