Works well after you reassemble it correctly

"As noted in review by THNYJM several things came assembled incorrectly. Mine appears to be the same as his. The included diagram has some errors as well. After examining parts, noting where flats are on the shafts, etc., there is only one way to assemble that makes sense. Once assembled correctly it works well. Easily holds the 150 feet of 1/2 inch hose.
Correct assembly: Don't attempt to turn the reel until you check everything. Some set screws may be installed and tightened incorrectly and not on the shaft flats so will scrape the shafts if you force it.
Tighten set screw in the center of the shaft where the crank mounts to hold the crank in place.
There are four identical flanges supporting the shafts. Two are bolted to the support, two to the reel. All have set screw holes, but not all require set screws.
Crank side on support: Should have only the long set screw with cross handle that acts as a parking brake.
Crank side on reel. Tighten one set screw against the flat on the shaft. Remove any others.
Inlet side on reel. Remove all set screws from this flange.
Inlet side on support. Tighten a set screw against the flat of the shaft. Remove any others.
Then remove the swiveling air connector from the outside of the support and remount on the other end of the shaft, inside the reel.
When complete, the crank turns its shaft and the reel. The inlet shaft does not turn. The reel turns around it. The swivel air connector follows the slot in the reel hub, once a hose or nipple is connected through the slot."

Hose Reel

"Upon receiving the unit, we found the only swivel was on the outside. When you hook the hose and turn the reel, the hose would just twist up. Also, when under a load, the handle just spun, not turning the reel. Unable to contact the manufacturer overseas for technical support. It seemed that reel came assembled wrong and with issues. Book book came with it for adjusting. Chief"

"What a handy product . I must say that I have right at 150 ft. of hose on it now , about 50 ft. of 1/4 " and 100 ft. of 3/8 " hose , and let me tell you, there is plenty more room for at least 100 ft. more hose . I can say that this is a wonderful product that I am very happy to own , I have had it for a little over 3 years now, and nothing at all to fail on it . And yes, I would recomend it to a friend , or anyone of that matter ."

"How does the hose roll up on your reel if the inside connection is not a swivel. Does your handle spin, not engaging the reel?"
