"Why pay more? This saw is great. At the price I am not afraid to use it hard or abuse it. I have used it to demo houses, cut down trees, cut up firewood, and carve. I have had mine for about seven years. It runs great for me but I live at high altitude. Poulan sets the carb lean at the factory. You may have to adjust the carb to get it to run right for you. At this price buy two!"

Wild Thing Reconditioned Chain Saw,
November 17, 2008
By ItsMyJob from Gurley, AL
"I bought one of these 18" saws last summer to tide me over while a couple of other saws were in the shop. At this price, how could you go wrong?? It arrived without a chain, but NT promptly sent me a new one.
I have since used it to bring down and cut up 15+ large oaks & hickorys that did not make it through the drought we had down here. BTW; I learned long ago that a timberjack greatly extends chain life. Once a chain hits dirt, (or worse, embedded nails or fencing) it's dull.
I find this product to be a great saw, at a great price, with more power than the original Wild Things. And now they've reduced the price even more!"

Reconditioned wild Thing Chainsaw,
April 14, 2008
"I had previously purchased two Wild thing chainsaws from NTE and was very pleased with the products, so I decided to try the reconditioned Wild Thing. It was a total disaster. The saw came with a 16 inch chain rather than the 18 inch required to fit the bar and the saw would not crank. The reconditioning quality was very poor and it just looked like a very used saw, including the 16 inch chain. NTE gave me a return number and rapid refund, great company. If you want a Wild Thing which is a great product, spend a few extra bucks and get the new one, the reconditioner has very low quality control standards."

"the reconditioned saw had to be brought for service before it worked. the serviceman alleged water in the carborator. Even now that it works, it is very hard to start when HOT. Starting from cold is okay, but don't ever turn if off until you're done with your task."
