"This sharpener is similiar to those built-in to some knife cases, being just two pieces of tungsten carbide set at an angle. This type of sharpener removes quite a lot of metal at a pass, but does an adequate job for most uses. Due to the amount of metal removed, and to the merely "good" edge it provides, I wouldn't recommend this sharpener for sharpening fine quality knives. If you have knives that cost more than $20 or so each, you will want either a professional sharpening system, or learn how to use a set of diamond stones--either method will provide a much sharper edge, and will remove much less metal per sharpening."
