"Excellent product and went together very easily. Northern tools had the cheapest price compared to all the other name brand hardware stores in the KC area. Fast delivery and customer service at the store was wonderful."

"Product went on the deck easily, fit well on the edge. Brackets are plastic, so not as rigid as if metal, but will not rust. Assembly did require minimal drilling. Overall good experience, could be better."

"I added the bench seats a year after building a 16 x 30 ft composite wood deck and wanted the seats to match the edge trim on the deck. The brackets worked very well using 5/4" x 5 !/2" planks. Reduced the spacing to about 19 inches to accomodate the more flexible composite wood (as opposed to the 2x6 wood that's mentioned in the directions) and wound up with a very sturdy bench. All the bolts and screws provided with the brackets worked very well with the thinner composite materials and the finished product looks professional. I'm handy with wood and deck type construction, but had to go to another web site to get instructions on how to turn a 90 degree corner with the sloping back rest pieces. Lowest cost at Northen Tool, good quality and easy to install. My only recommendation to Northern would be to put in info for an L-shaped bench."

Deck bench brackets

"I had seen these used on a home that was on a home tour several years ago and had been looking for them since. Not only did I find them at Northern Tool, they had far and away the best price.
The brackets were easy to use and the instructions were clear. The only problem I had was that the brackets are flexible enough that they will destort a little when you bolt them down if your deck is not perfectly flat. This can result in your 2 X 4 uprights not being plumb. If you are aware of this and make sure that they are plumb from side to side and all at the same angle before you attache the top rail and commit your self to where they are at, you will be fine. If you don't notice, you may have some that are slanted side to side or have some difficulty getting all of the uprights to fit under the top rail. I had some 20 foot spans so I did make some mistakes on this before I discovered the problem. It was structurally sound but I had some funny looking uprights in terms of being slanted.
Overall, I was quite pleased with the brackets. I put up about 48 feet of bench all together around my 20 by 20 deck. It is a second story deck and I liked the safety boards under the seat to keep toys and toddlers from going out underneath. The benches are very sturdy and added a huge amount of seating room with out taking out much of my deck area. In fact everyone thinks that I made my deck much larger than it had been before even thought the deck area is exactly the same.
