Great Product at a Great Price

" I bought this snow blower back in August so that I'd have it in plenty of time for winter this year - last year the snow came a bit too early. The machine was easy to assemble (it was mostly assembled when it was delivered, just had to attach a few rods). I've never assembled a snow blower before and it only took me a half hour.
Anyway, we had our first storm of the season last night up here in the Northeast and I finally got a chance to fire up my Poulan Pro. I used the electric start which fired up the engine immediately. The controls worked great, very comfortable and easy to get used to (I've never used a snow blower before. I know, strange considering I was born and raised in New England, but I always shoveled).
My driveway is on a hill and about 150ft long. This thing had no problem what-so-ever climbing steep, icy hills while cutting through the heavy, wet snow and throwing it far enough to clear the far edge of the driveway.
I spent over $600 last year on plowing. I'm sure this snow blower will pay for itself in just a little over 1 New England winter with the deal I got at Northern Tool.
I can't wait for the next storm... 2 days and counting... "

Punishment

" I searched high and low to find a snow blower for sale when I came across the last one at Northern Tool. I absolutely punished this thing for two days during the last big storms of the year. They dumped around 30" of snow that was heavy and wet and I will say that I am very impressed with my Poulan. It started, ran, and threw the snow a long way. This was truly a tough test for a snow blower as I blew my driveway 4 times and my neighbors twice. This machine is well worth the price, I would recomend it to anyone! "

Almost Ready Out of the Crate!

" I picked up my snowblower during Part 2 of the big end-of-Febuary 2007 storm we had here in MN.
I have quite a long driveway ( a double wide about 120' feet long), and as it was blowing hard that day as well, I really appreciated Northern putting the blower together before I took it home; I had a pretty good idea what I'd be up against when I got there.
I waited for my roommate to help me unload it out of the back of my minivan. I then briefly read the manual while he went to fill up the gas can. The oil level seemed kind of low when I got it, but since this is a four-stroke, I just added more oil. After putting gas in it, and setting the choke, the throttle, and priming it a couple of times, I was ready to go.What really surprised me was how readily it started ( I used the recoil start the 1st time). It started on the 2nd pull. I had previously been using a 25+ year-old 3 hp blower, so I expected this 8.5 horse to be louder. It actually was about the same volume.
I should've let it run for a couple of minutes to warm up, but I was so excited to get going, I just dove right into it. And dive right into it it did! Since I couldn't get my car into the driveway before I began because the street plow had already been by, I actually began at the end of my driveway where the plow had been. Since my 3 horse was only a single stage, I was used to having to dig out the end of my driveway- it just couldn't cut it. But this blower was unstoppable! It cut right through the plow-in, the drifts, everything. I actually cut the first swathe the entire length of my driveway without stopping.
It takes a little getting used to ,holding both handles to engage the drive and the auger, but that was pretty well mastered by the time I got done. I also learned that I could put the unit in neutral and drag it backwards if I wanted to- it's much faster that moving it backwards in reverse gear. I realized as well when the snow is deep it's better to go slower to give the auger time to break the snow up.
The next day there was still more snow that had fallen overnight, and since I had to go to work and my roommate's regular work was canceled due to the storm, he called me at work to review how to operate it. A brief review of the manual is really all that's needed. I just hit some highlights and he had the rest of the driveway done by the time I came home! Now how's that for a deal?
I would definitely recommend this blower for its ease of use, its being almost ready to use out of the box, and its easy starting. I may even wait to use the electric start.
The only recommendation I would give would be to either add a headlamp to the model or offer an optional headlamp for evening snow removal.
Overall a great unit and a satisfying buying experience. I'd absolutely recommend purchasing this unit. Thanks, Northern Tool.

" If one word were to describe this snowblower, it would be “overachiever” and “workhorse,” (OK, so that’s two words). We took this machine on my son’s 10-customer snow removal route with incredible results. It started on one pull every time, and once running, nothing could stop it from clearing driveways and sidewalks. A few more Midwest snow storms and this machine pays for itself! A great snowblower for great value. "
