"Purchased this unit in october. Was a little bit skeptical about a "curing paint smell" i keep hearing about from fellow wood burners. And it was all true! Place stunk for about two good fires. So just a heads up. Open doors and windows the first few lights. Aside from that heres the experience on the heating part..... Its a real 75,000 BTU's. I am using it in a 1600 sqft home and i turn the oil furnace down to 60 deg when im at work. I come home and get the thing going (the insert)... few hrs later im at 73deg. The fan does not come with a thermostat, but its adjustable and the dampener does a great job slowing down the air for a really long burn. I often open the door and i can get to 73deg (from 65) in about an hr or so. I use a mix of reg seasoned wood and those new firebricks (eco brick) and they both work great in the insert. The bricks work better when you have the door open, they dont pop or spit sparks. Great buy. Not a really fancy front face but i really like the flat black finish and has a nice clean look to it. For the price, performance, burn time, and looks i gave it a five stars."
