An Excellent Electric Blower,
November 2, 2009

"The 51599 is the third Toro electric blower I've had over the last 30 years and is definately the most powerful. But the outstanding improvement in this model is its' variable speed control. By being able to adjuct the velocity of the air flow, removing leaves from 90 degree corners is easy. Lowering the wind speed allows you to keep the debrie moving along the ground and out of corners rather than blowing straight up in the air only to fall back where it was to begin with. The 51599 seems to be a little heavier than previous models, which I attribute to its' more powerful motor, but that is offset by getting the job done faster."

Decent tool at a good price.,

"The blower function is very powerful, but the one downside is that the variable speed control does not slow the motor enough to provide the slow speed control that I am used to from the gas-powered backpack blowers I used to use. The vacuum configuration is awkward to use and I have stopped using it despite the convenience of the mulching feature. All that being said, the price is right and you get a nice powerful blower even if you don't use the vac/mulcher. Unless a backpack blower makes sense, this is a great option."

Good leaf vac,

"The previous vac I had destroyed itself fairly quickly by sucking up a rock. This one is more carefully designed so that the vacuuming force is spread wide enough that it brings in lots of leaves but can't support a rock, too. I eventually got confident enough with it that I cleaned the leaves out of a fencerow lined with decorative rocks and had no trouble. It also has a variable speed control so you can dial-down the windspeed if you want.
It's fairly quiet and it does a good job of shredding the leaves--the bag holds quite a lot of them before it is filled. They are shredded into surprisingly small pieces and I expect they will break-down very quickly when incorporated into the garden. The only thing I didn't like about it was the handles--there must be a reason they shaped them the way they did, but I haven't figured it out yet--they don't seem comfortable to me. Still, overall I think it's a good machine."

Good Product,
November 17, 2008

"I was looking for a blower.vac mostly for the vac function to get leaves out of my flower beds that are mulched in rock. This does that very well, but it does get heavy as the bag fills up with leaves. The weight is the only thing I would change about it. I would prefer a battery operated one, but I was concerned that it would be even heavier and not as powerful."

"Very powerful, light weight and you can also use as a vacuum to suck up leaves. Had my original one for almost 15 years and replaced it with another. Great for blowing snow of the walkway/driveway...beats shoveling."

durable blower vac,
April 24, 2008
By RichV
from Hopewell Jct., NY
"Purchased to replace 2 year old gas powered Homelite blower vac that would not start after first year and plastic blades were torn up.
Other than the loading pinging from the metal blade when a piece of mulch gets sucked up it seems to be durable, powerful and easy to use.
It does suck up a lot of leaves before you have to empty the bag.
