" To start, I have this unit mounted in our motorhome. We use it to power our TV, run the microwave and the refrigerator as well as the coffee maker and the computer station we have installed to "work while we travel". Of course we don't use all of the appliances at once, but it does handle any one of these very well and unless it's the hair dryer or microwave (or other energy hog) it does very well powering several small appliances at a time.
The inverter has worked without fall until -- well, I have just purchased this NPower XRP Pure Sine Wave Inverter with Remote Control to replace the one I had been using for two years. That may sound bad but, the failure of the unit was my doing, not that of the inverter. The remote control is a great addition to the convenience of operating the product but, thats where I encountered my problem. I had switched the inverter off and had connected to "shore power" (regular A/C current) but when I later reentered the motorhome and was near the "remote switch" I noticed a light glowing on the switch - and before I could stop myself I had pushed the button to turn the unit off, or so I thought for a very brief second. The light I noted was from the sun reflecting on the switch and I had reacted too quickly, pressed the switch and - POW - inverter down. All that is said just as a precaution to anyone using any inverter! Do not "power on" the unit while connected to another power source!
As a testimony to my success and satisfaction with using the NPower Inverter, I chose to replace the unit that I fried with a new one just like the one I have been using.
Yes, i would recomend this product to anyone needing a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter! "

Expensive but Fun Project

" I needed AC in a backyard shed but running underground lines from main house to shed was too difficult. So I started exploring Solar. Put a 45W 3-panel solar array on the shed roof, picked up some 60Ah batteries and tried the 1500w Modified Sine Wave inverter. It worked so well that I took it back to the store and ordered this 2KW Pure Sine Wave inverter. The remote control that comes with it is perfect so the inverter and batteries can be tucked away and the remote control allows total on/off control. This unit does require two sets of cables so I have two red and two black #2AWG stranded cables from the unit to the batteries. Also used #2AWG wire to link all the batteries in parallel so I have 240Ah available. Tested with all my shop tools (15A chop saw, 12A chain saw, vacuum, hedge trimmer, etc.) Put up 100w equivalent LED lights in the shed and they don't even register on the inverter's watt meter. The unit hesitates when the 15A chop saw starts, but then runs fine. That is about 1750W. Although the book says it has surge head room over 2KW, it would always kick off and go into alarm with any load over about 1800W. So don't plan on anything over 1700-1800W. I put about $800 into this project and the batteries were free. Add $100 per battery and the price would be $1200. This will never make sense economically, but I had fun, learned more about Solar and now have free power in my shed. "
