"I purchased the Lumberjack Tools Log Furniture Tool Kit — Pro Series 2-Pc. Starter Kit this past spring and have been using it regularly on weekends. I have been buliding tables, benches and chairs from my own red pine stand and the kit works great. Pine is softer but the blades have stayed as sharp as when I recieved the kit. I found securing the logs in a good woodworking vise and using a high torque drill works best for me. (I use a Rigid spade handle) I'm confident it would also work as well on harder wood. I'm just a weekend user but the kit seems to be of great quality. Definitely not a toy but once you get used to using the tools it is a very fun and creative hobby. If you can think it up you can build it. I plan on using them this coming spring to build my own screen house for the backyard."

"When I first got my hands on the kit I set out to make a bench out of a slab of white oak and some read oak boards that I had squirreled away. It took a bit of work to get the tenon cutter set such that the tenon fit tightly in the 2" hole. (Good thing a uses some scrap first) I was pleased with the results. I think that the tools are better suited for softer woods...but they did handle the well seasoned red-oak and white-oak.
I can't wait to try my next project, I do think I'll use some softer species."
