Wireless Alert System,

"I installed the alarm along the driveway to alert me of anyone coming or going. The line of sight between the receiver and transmitter is obstructed by a small patch of woods/brush, but it works great. Total distance is approx. 500' . No more surprise visits or people at my door without me already knowing they are coming. I would recommend this product to all."

Driveway alert system,
April 17, 2008
By miacomm from Central Fl
"Installed two months ago and has worked flawlessly. The distance from my driveway entry sensor to the location in the house for the receiver is only about 200 ft but the signal appears to function each time on people or vehicles. The post on which the sensor is mounted is about 20 ft from a right angle roadway where many vehicles pass so I used the angle feature on the mounting to focus it away from that road to keep out unwanted alerts. Also it is set to the lower sensitivity mode. Additionally I added a 12v digital counter to the auxilliary contacts so I could tell when there is an entry when we are not in the house and it will increment by one on each entry--not that we would necessarily know who it was but still helpful."

Not worth a dime !!,

"Don't believe a word in the advertisement. This thing works when it wants to, but mostly not at all. I messed with the range and sensitivity to point I'm sick of it. No amount of adjustments gets this thing to work as stated in the ads. Northern should do it's customers a favor and drop this from inventory, it's nothing but an aggravation."

"It doesn't have the advertised range, but I still like it! My two indoor units and three outdoor units pass thru 3 block walls at a range of 250 feet. Batteries last two years. Very reliable."

"I mounted my motion detector at the end of my driveway which is roughly 400 feet from my house. The receiver was unable to pick up a signal at that distance. I ended up having to move my motion detector within 100 feet of my house before the receiver would pick up the signal. Another problem is that the motion detector is not consistent. Sometimes cars go by and the alarm on the receiver does not go off. To be fair, perhaps mine had some kind of defect, but I would probably look at other options next time."

Hit or Miss,
October 19, 2009
By standbypowerguy from Pittsburgh
"I hung the transmitter on a tree down by the entrance to my driveway, then put the receiver up in my shop, about 200' away with line of sight. The only thing between the two is the wall of my shop, which is standard frame construction with vinyl siding. It started out working pretty regular, but degraded in a couple of weeks to hit or miss. It will see my wife's Chevy HHR leaving, but not coming back. Ditto for my father's Rav4. Yet it sees the kid next door on the garden tractor on just about every pass he mows, up to about 40' away, and sometimes sees tri-axles on the main road, even though it's pointed away. Drives me frickin' crazy. I've played with position and sensitivity till the cows come home, to no avail. Save your money."

"i have purchased at least a dozen of these units but have one at my own home 250 feet from house and it does not work so the 900 feet is not true, they sent me a replacement and that don't work at that distance either.it is not the location cause i have moved both transmitter and receiver to try and pickup signal, there is a clear shot to receiver in front of window in view of unit and no luck.i install these for people and have had good luck at a 100 feet ,but no luck after that distance."

Chamberlain range limited,
September 14, 2009
By Walstream from Yankee Hill, Cal
"I installed 2 of the transmitters along my driveway and front of my home. The unit I mounted near the front of my home works fine, the one I mounted along the driveway I was never able to get further out than a few hundred feet. Far short of the 900' claimed range.
The unit will work fine around the home at about 100'"

Chamberlain Wireless Alert System,

"The price I paid for this unit paid for itself in one night.
Our "fair" city has had 24 home invasions in the past several weeks.
At about 12:30am, our driveway alert went off. There was a steady tone, then interrupted by three more tones.
Our little 12 pound "Schnoodle" is the secondary alert system. She hears it, and lets us know in a hurry that someone or something has entered the driveway.
Our home security system went off about a minute or two later, indicating somebody had tripped the motion detector in the garage.
The alarm company called, and stayed on the phone with us until the Police arrived.
If we had not had the driveway alert system, we would not have know somebody was prowling around our house.
I just ordered two more transmitters which will be placed in other areas around of home.
FANTASTIC system..............................."

Drive way alert,

"Product works ok. Doesn't go the distance it says it will. Does work well in a 400 ft distance. Sensor adjustments are hard to change. Only rings once so must be close by to hear alert."

Undependable operation,
July 13, 2009
"The unit is not dependable, operateration is sporatic.
In some cases it will alarm when a vehicle enters but not when it leaves. Other times just the reverse. It is a good product when it works correctly, but you cannot depend on it."

Excellent product,
July 13, 2009
By MrsVet from Ozark Mountains
"We live way out in the country and kept having people stop by and had no idea they were on the property until they were knocking on the door. So after finding what we needed with Northern Tool we placed the order and had very good delivery time. We purchased both the base unit and an additional unit for the other side of our round driveway. After installation, we found that the alert noise was toned just right. So it alerted us but wasn’t offended by the noise either. One little problem was that my husband installed it just a bit too low and the dogs set it off when they were playing or chasing ever-present squirrels. So after adjusting the height above the dogs we have excellent notice on people driving up. The squirrels do occasionally set the alarm off but that is to be expected. The distance from our house to the devices is about 300 feet."
