"I got this as a replacement for a stolen Hitachi impact. I was really quite happy with the Hitachi, and thought that there was no way that I would be converted to a DeWalt fan. I punished that drill so much that the 90 degree handle broke. I wasn’t really expecting much but I took the broken handle to a local repair shop that serviced DeWalt. They happily replaced it, no charge, no complaint.
I am impressed at the torque level of the impact. I have twisted several ¼ inch adapters, and still the power and torque is there. Don’t be surprised though if this is your first Lion battery tool, when it dies it is dead. None of the warning signs of the older batteries, you know, slow turning, deep growling, shake to make it work thing. It is simply dead, time for the charger and nothing else.
"I have used Dewalt impact drivers for years, they just don't break. The drivers are probably the most used tools in the trailer, and the new 18v lithium ion tools are the hardest to find as someone on the crew will be using them all the time.
The 1/2" hammer drill has lots of torque and runs a long time on a charge The new hard alloy chuck grips tight and the hammer function makes short work of holes in concrete. For holes up to about 1/2" it out drills a much more expensive SDS corded drill.
The only quibble I have is that the carry bag is a little too capacious, load it up and it's HEAVY."
