Chevy Short Bed Install
February 22, 2010
from New Mexico
"I have been using this tank for about a year in my Chevy 2500 HD. The tank fits the shorter bed in front of the internal fenders and is about level with the top of the bed rails. The tabs match up to the high ridges in the bed, so the installation looks good. I use the tank to supply diesel to other trucks, tractors, and in a pinch to the pickup truck itself. I opted for a hand pump and it is surprisingly fast and easy to fill another tank. The original tank on the Chevy is 25 gal, so if I am towing a heavy load around 15K pounds, I can only go about 150 miles before I need to be searching for fuel. Now, I just stop and can refuel manually in just a few minutes. The tank has the provisions to gravity feed into my tank or transfer with a small pump. I have not done this because I sometimes remove the tank to utilize the entire bed.
The tool box has allowed me to move all of my tie down and towing items outside the cab of the pickup. Another advantage of this tank is that I buy diesel when it is cheap and use fuel out of the transfer tank when fuel prices go up."
