Works Good,

"Easy to install works great. I just drilled out the drain hole in my 2007 2500HD truck bed and put in a cromet for the hose. Easy as can be. The tank works good only problem is the air vent. It's kind of a pain if you fill the tank, because on rough roads the fuel will spill out. I just cut a pice if the left over hose and pointed it up. Problrm solved."

"i bought this kit for a 2004 chevy 2500HD 4x4 diesel. It pretty well comes with everything you need for a clean installation. but i bougt extra fittings from the local hardware store and got the valve paralell with the tank.
If you are buying an auxiliary tank from Northern Tool, you really should consider one of these kits. it will save you a lot of time over trying to piece it all together."

"Northern tools auxiliary diesel fuel tank install kit makes it very easy to install an auxiliary tank. The kit easily splices into the existing fuel filler hose. The valve supplied with the kit keeps your factor tank full without overfilling it. The only other thing i wish the kit came with was an electric shut off solenoid instead of a manual valve."

Could use some work,

"I installed the kit on my 06 chevy 2500 / 45 gal tank 71083 & we are on our way to Florida. I am glad we put in the tank. The gravity system in kit does not work for my vehicle.I have to manually close/open valve provided in kit to stop flow of diesel as it will otherwise leak out my trucks tank cap as well as keep the tank full which causes the tank guage to not work properly. It can take a good 45 mins to fill house tank from auxillary.So I am looking for suggestions for a inexpensive 12volt solonoid valve to control fuel line from cab while driving and not have to stop to close/open valve to prevent leaks. I keep the trip odometer going to remember when I will run out of fuel.
I was getting fuel sitting at top of tank from vent. I found some clear tubing to attach to vent and now it drains back spilt fuel into tank. The cap looks self venting so I may plug rollover vent to see if it is even necessary.
I bought a fuel guage from manufacturer to be able to see how much fuel is in tank as my set up came without one. A 12volt gate valve for this kit would make it better."

"I found the Diesel Install Kit fairly simple and easy to install.
I'm afraid it did have a pin hole in a weld and leaked though.
I called the company and they were very helpful and sent me
a replacement part with no muss or fuss.
It actually works great, I was a little surprised how simple it
is and how well it works."

"fairly easy to install , however the directions should indicate that the plastic filler tube that goes into tank has to be removed before the rubber fill hose is cut. I could see that someone may try to cut the rubber hose and if they cut the plastic filler tube it would be difficult to fix. The directions definitely needs to be reworked with clear diagrams."

"This is by far the easiest way to connect an auxiliary fuel tank to your truck. No electrical...no pumps...no hassel. The kit contains instructions for the simple installation and is very straight forward. We fill both tanks and run on the "main" tank" until it's down to a quarter or so. At a stop, I open a small valve in the corner of the pickup bed and the fuel drains (gravity feed) from the auxiliary tank into the main tank. Once full, I close the valve and off we go. The fuel computer in the truck is not affected. I installed this on an 07 GMC 2500HD."

"This kit is very easy to install and works very well.
On new trucks you must use the shut-off valve supplied in the kit after filling or your fuel gauge will default to empty if the computer dose not see fuel being used.
I have installed a 12v solinoid valve and this works perfect. The diesel kit will not let the tank over-fill if the valve stays open.
If your installing a aux tank in your Chevy truck this kit is the way to go."
