Merry Mac Leaf Blower Review

" I purchased this blower mainly because it is American made and had the best overall CFM of all the comparable blowers I reviewed in this price range. The blower works well in general, but with my fescue lawn, which I keep at about 3 inches mowing height, it did not readily move the leaves in the grass. My backpack Stihl BR600 Magnum actually did a better job of moving the leaves in the grass. The CFM of the Stihl is only about a 1000 CFM, but the downward path of the air flow seemed to move the leaves much better than the Merry Mac even though the Merry Mac had a 1600 CFM output. However, it does get very tiresome carrying the backpack blower and moving the tube from side to side to clear the leaves, especially with over 2 acres to clear. I had hoped the Merry Mac would be easier to use and less tiresome. It did not quite work out that way, but I still believe the Merry Mac is an excellent blower for most applications. The blower is well built, not like the Chinese competitor blowers. There is a gate on the output side of the blower that easily directs airflow from the side to the front so that you can clear leaves along shrubs and flower beds. It would be nice if they could design a blower so that you could flip the airflow from one side to the other so that you could continue to blow the leaves in one direction making horizontal passes back and forth across the yard. As it is, you have to walk backwards back across the yard to accomplish this. I guess that is too difficult a challenge to accomplish at present or perhaps too expensive to incorporate this feature. It would however be a nice and useful feature. Overall, I would recommend the blower and mainly gave it a three star rating because of the problems I encountered in my specific circumstances. The Merry Mac blower is only available on line, so there is no opportunity to evaluate the blower in the store. You have to buy it sight unseen, and if you desire to return it, you not only have to pay the shipping both ways, but also face a 20% restocking fee from the manufacture, MacKissic, Inc. Therefore, be sure you plan to keep any of these blowers you order as returning them is just not a financially viable option. You also cannot return them to any Northern Tool store, so shipping them back is the only return option. "
