Great idea that doesn't work
June 23, 2014
"I purchased this along with the spade attachment for a job I was doing. The first receiver plate I receive had the tubes welded crooked so the spade wouldn't slide in. The skid steer adapter was very a very loose fit due to the upper plates being welded on 1/4" to high (see reviews of their other skid steer products this seems to be pretty common). I called the manufacturer and after looking at pictures they offered to pick my units up and send me a replacement set that they would check for fit. The replacements arrived and I noticed the paint where the receiver tubes slide in wasn't scratched so fit had never been verified. This set also wouldn't slide together because the seem of the female receiver tubes had been welded on the inside with a heavy weld bead. I had to grind that down to get a very tight fit that required tools to break the spade loose. The holes for the retaining pins also lined up poorly requiring a hammer and punch to install and remove. The skid steer plate was loose on this one too so I had to make filler plates to avoid damage to my tractor. The first receiver had a weight rating lable that was blank, the second receiver had the weight rating scratched out but it looked like it said 500lbs. The spade is rated at 2000lbs, I confirmed with the manufacturer that the weight rating is only 500lbs so any of the accesories they sell for this are essentially downrated to less than 500lbs capacity making all of them nearly useles. This is a great idea but poor quality control and egineering cost me valuble time and money."
