I've used a lot of the non-name brand grinders over the years, but I've gotten to the point over the last few months that I needed one that was both powerful and consistent. Dewalt is known for making high quality tools and this is no exception. The 7" grinder size is just big enough to cut through most anything with the cutoff wheel and for grinding large surfaces it's hard to beat. Plenty of power in this unit, including lots of torque. Be mindful of grabbing a firm grip on the handle as this is so powerful that it can get away from you if you're not careful. A high quality unit and one that I've put probably 100 hours on so far with zero problems.
i bought this tool to help build a fish house last spring. it works great. 4hp is enought to take down a weld and then some. i love the multiple handle positions. it is a little heavy though, heavier than i thought it would be. overall an excellent tool.
I purchased this to replace an old Black & Decker angle grinder. What a difference. This will cut thru anything in no time. Used it to remove all the rust on an old 30' boat trailer, and finished the job in half the time I had expected. Very durable tool, well worth the money.
purchased this item to remove dirt and debris from old street paver bricks. I used wire cup brushes on it and within 5 hours it burned up and quit working. Fortunately I purchased a replacement rider from the location I purchased and was able to get it replaced. I have used it without incident since. If I had it to do again I would spend the extra $ and buy the Milwaulkee it has special dust baffles built into the motor vents to keep dust out of the motor, the DeWalt does not.
I can't believe the amount of torque available in this 7" grinder. It cuts fast, handles well, and doesn't mind when I really bear down on it to grind out a faulty weld. The multiposition auxiliary handle is really useful for getting into tight spots. This is not a one hand tool.
The standard 5/8 - 11 drive makes all varieties of abrasive wheels and wire wheels available to it. I find the spindle lock extremely convenient when I frequently change back and forth between abrasive disks and cup wheels.
This is a fine heavy duty tool at an exceptional price.
