"I purchased the reconditioned unit and had no mechanical issues - works like new. It does cover very well and makes fast work out of large areas. But...
Cleanup is a real chore and consumes lots of solvent/cleaner. I used it first on a small job - a sunroom - and it took five times longer to clean the Paint Crew after use than it did to paint the room. If you're going to bother using this, it had better be for a big project like the exterior of a house to make all the ancillary work worthwhile.
Pros:
- Small handle works well in corners, can be sprayed at ceiling and upside down (when working close to the ground/floor)
- Even spray, easy to control, quick trigger mechanism
- Hopper holds > 1 gallon of paint
- Covers large areas FAST
- Long hose for working on a ladder
Cons:
- Slow, tedious, messy, and wasteful cleanup process
- Hopper does not remove from unit for cleaning - would help significantly in cleanup
- Not suitable for use in areas without VERY GOOD ventilation - the paint is so finely atomized that much of it stays airborne.
- Lots of secondary overspray - you must have EVERYTHING masked within at least 2 feet of your work area
- Consumes a lot of paint - too much wasted in overspray
- Stiff hose becomes very rigid under pressure, subsequently cumbersome to maneuver
- Electrical pigtail is only inches long
Overall I would not recommend this unless you routinely do large jobs of one color (not switching between colors or primers) where you only have to clean it once. For any smaller jobs, if the handheld units can spray 75% as well (with less overspray), that would be the way to go."
