Backup power ?,
January 7, 2009
By TheOz

"I purchased 2 of these after our basement flooded and we lost power and the sump pumps stopped working.
One of them had to be sent back because it never stopped charging.
The other seems to be ok. Now when we lose power the PowerSource shows only a 70% charge not even using it. The company said to recycle the battery a few times but that does not seem to help.
Better off with a gas generator.

Household Equipment UPS,
August 11, 2008

"A 7" torrential rainstorm with very high winds in June, 2008 caused a power outage and our basement also had 4+" of water for the first time. The basement flooding damaged a bunch of expensive technical books, etc. We obviously needed a large UPS for our 3/4 hp sump pump. Last week, we again had multiple power outages in the Chicago area due to very high winds along with big rains. This time, with the Duracell backing our sump pump, we had no basement water problems. The kW reading showed that it easily handled the pump start and subsequent power draw."
