Good for household use,
November 4, 2009

"I bought this set in November or December of 2006 for work. I use it for 1 & 1/2 years as a mechanic and had no problems. However since then a few things have broken. The rubber in the spark plug socket has ripped and came out as well as a few of the wrenches have broken. I imagine if I was just using this set in home and had not used it for work everything would still be in perfect condition. I would buy this set again if need for household jobs."

Replacement Tools,
July 20, 2009

"I purchased this socket set as an inexpensive replacement for tools that had "Grown Legs and Walked Off," and I was pleasantly surprised. As a retired NIASE Certified "General Truck Mechanic," I generally prefer to buy Snap On Tools . However, being retired, I can no longer afford them. (This same set from Snap On would probably cost over $2,000.) The fit, finish, and feel of these tools indicate that they are quality tools despite their low cost. I gave them a four star rating only because I have not had them long enough to give them a thorough work out. Therefore, I don't know how well they will stand up to the stress and abuse of a professional shop, but I think they will be excellent for use in the home/handyman shop."

An excellent set for the price,
July 20, 2009
By JackD

"I decided to upgrade my socket set after tiring of the missing sockets and poor quality of my previous set. This is an excellent assortment of sockets, drivers, and a few other basic hand tools. It has every socket size I've needed, deep and shallow, in both 1/4" and 3/8" drives without much of the "filler" often found in combination sets. The socket wrenches have a smooth locking mechanism and a button on the back of the head to lock the sockets onto the shaft.
Two things keep me from giving it 5 stars. The plastic case (similar to the other folding red cases) comes with a flimsy removable foam insert that is required to prevent the bits from falling out when the case is carried or moved. I'm sure it's going to fail within a year and I'll have to make a replacement or get another case, and replacing it every time I close the case is tedious. The other issue is the socket retention mechanism on the 1/4" driver is loose enough that bits will occasionally come off if they're really jammed on the bolt.
Overall, I've been highly pleased and would recommend this to anyone looking for a complete set of sockets for most automotive and general construction work."
