"this type of hand winch raise's and lowers with ease. No free spinning handle to break your arm, no clickers to engage or break just crank up or crank down and it stops when you stop. I really don't understand how it works, but it works great. We use them here on the little red river for small boat lifts."

"Actually when I ordered the winch, some how I missed the auto brake feature,
It is great, for the application I have it on, and is safer and easer than one with the ratchet feature, as there is a load on it when raising and lowering the item, I do no think the load can get away from one,
(the only draw back is on a unloaded cable you can not pull the cable and have it free wheel and unroll. The handle must be cranked, and cable pulled at the same time to unroll the cable, this is not a problem in my application."

"I made this purchase about two years ago. It was to replace a twenty year old unit. I own a Jet Ski that ways over a 1000 pounds. This unit does a fine job. It's left out in weather and has not shown any ill effects of weather."

"I used the Dutton-Lainson Model DLB1500A to raise and lower a forty (40) foot Rohn 25 tower with a hinged base. The winch contains Fifty (50) feet of 3/16 inch wire rope. The winch works very well in this application. I selected this winch because it is very similar to winch on my fifty five foot Tristao crank up tower that I have used for thirty years. This winch is as heavy in construction as the one used on the Tristao tower.Tower ba"
