Kohler Command Pro

"Purchased this engine for an old wood splitter whose engine I just could not keep running. The carb was beyond rebuild and the fuel tank was rusty from sitting for several years. Every bolt hole matched the old engine and pump perfectly. After filling with oil and some good ethanol free fuel the thing started with the very first half hearted pull of the starter rope! Never had even a new engine do that. Starts every time and runs very smooth. Splitter is like new to me now. Very pleased."

"Had an older Northern log splitter with 5 hp Tecumseh that was worn out. The Kohler was a drop in replacement with all holes lining up and pump sliding right on. Tons of power now, first pull starting, quiet and runs very smooth. Not to mention cheaper than a Briggs at current sale price and almost 1/2 price of Honda. It will do everything I need it to do. Very happy with the purchase. Thanks for the tech page with accurate measurements and info."

Kohler 7 HP Horizontal Engine - 208cc

,
March 14, 2011
By Ringleader

"I bought this engine to replace an existing engine on my Lawn Vacuum. It was to replace a 3 HP Briggs and Stratton. I wanted a reliable engine and this was my reasoning in choosing Kohler. Unfortunately, the configuration of the blower assembly attachment prevented me from using this engine. This resulted in returning the engine and instead using a Briggs and Stratton 5.5 HP, which was able to accommodate the blower assembly."

"Why the four stars? This doesn't mean that the engine is bad or had anything wrong with it. You just didn't make sure the engine would fit your application before you ordered it. This is no fault of the engine or Northern."
